I'm not sure I get this... in addition to the "secret surprise film," they're riffing the same movie every night? Isn't that going to get a little....boring or weird or something? I mean I know musicians play the same songs every night, but this is a different art form. Plus, as an MST3K fan, the beauty is in the subtle humor and with a theatre full of people laughing, won't we miss stuff? I don't know. Don't mean to poo poo, just really curious how this works.
So mad that the date is at my work the same day as Warped Tour. Could still possibly catch the 2nd show.
I hear what you're saying, but I'd guess it's something like what RiffTrax or Master Pancake does. They probably have watched the film and written jokes for it and will perform a similar show each night. The crowd's reaction will be unique each night because it's new to them, but yes the MST3K guys will be doing (basically) the same show every (other) night.
Not to derail this thread, but I just recently discovered MBMBAM from the Seeso show and now I'm going back and trying to listen to the entire podcast from the beginning. Griffin's final question from a few episode ago destroyed me... "What's the difference between anorexic and balsamic?"
Oh yes, that is a pure classic. At the risk of ruining a future last question, my all time favorite is "How long should I sit on the Loo to chase these Tuesday blues away?"
I was a very early adopter. My friend clued me in when they were on episode 5 or 6 because he was a big fan of Justin and (30 under 30 media luminary) Griffin on Joystiq. I am maybe 3 episodes behind but I've listened to most of them more than once. You should check out The Adventure Zone as well. It's a D&D podcast the brothers do with their dad and even if you're not really into D&D (I'm not) it's so good.
Yeah, I've been thinking about checking out TAZ, but kinda strayed away because of the D&D connection since I've never played D&D - I did just start watching Harmon Quest though (another D&D related thing), and enjoy it quite a bit, so I may check out TAZ soon too. Also need to start watching Monster Factory and Car Boys.
Don't let the D&D thing scare you away. If you can handle Harmon Quest, you can handle this. I think TAZ > HQ but that's just me. Griffin does a podcast called Cool Games Inc. with Nick Robinson (who he does Car Boys with) where they concept and make up crazy video games. Not a huge gamer but it is really really funny.
Well, looks like I'll be checking out The Adventure Zone today! Also ya'll should both get in on some D&D. I only caved and let myself try it last year. Between all the supplemental stuff there is to read, crafting to do like painting minis, etc... you will never be bored ever again.
