this makes me think this was an intentional choice then if they've nixed other bits of spoken word (aside from band members). probably wouldn't have ordered the vinyl if i knew those bits were truly gone, but it's already shipped and i didn't own the album beforehand/wanted those bonus tracks
Yeah I mostly wanted the bonus tracks and alt artwork, bummer that that stuff's gone but I've got a copy with those on it so shrug I guess
The digital out tomorrow seems to be without the interludes as well. The main album is now 51:09 instead of 53:59
Now I will be annoyed if the original doesn't stay up on streaming. I know bands sometimes replace the original with remasters (looking at you Strung Out)
yeah, the digital was what i was referencing in my original post. i saw images of one of the vinyl variants containing the interlude names on the center label, so i assumed they might be on physical copies, but other versions on the band's website don't have them listed on the center labels, so they just might not be there in any capacity.
That's so weak, the interludes kind of made the whole thing a story. Guess I'll keep the original in my library. Do the remasters sound significantly better and/or different? Also lame they took out the Japanese part of "Party Poison".
If I listened to them back-to-back I'd notice the differences, but it's not a clear step up like the Three Cheers remaster was (which probably is because the original was very good to begin with)
the frontman of the band Mindless Self Indulgence, who MCR was friends with, was accused of sexual battery a while back. one of their other members did all the spoken word interludes on the original release of Danger Days, and some people are speculating they pulled the interludes because they handled the allegations poorly and MCR don't want to be associated with any of them anymore, which doesn't make a lot of sense if they're taking out other spoken word parts.
Went to the Danger Days re-release party last night in London where they played the version with all the spoken parts so I was surprised to hear this one doesn't have those although not as surprised as I was that Mikey and Gerard showed up to the event. The setlist of songs they played couldn't be more opposite of each other and now I can't get When The Toad Came Home from The Wind In the Willows out of my head.
Yeah, I also don't mind them being cut. I can go track down another vinyl copy if I really want. I do get the annoyance if you primarily stream and no longer have access to the OG tracks, though.
