Yeah, I don't really hear how those songs sound any worse than the rest of the album. The whole thing sounded very rough and demoish to me, that section just felt closer to finished from a songwriting perspective to me.
I was referring to the "closer to finished" part. Putting aside that all of the tracks are technically unfinished, curious why you feel the back half stands out more in this way. As for the front half, I'm gonna admit that maybe part of this is just me getting more used to the rough nature of the album as it goes on, and part of it may just be how hard the back half hits me emotionally. I still feel like there's a weird drop in volume from Fake Your Death to Witch that makes those songs sound even more like works in progress to me.
Forgive me if I misread this, but over the weekend I saw there might be two additional songs floating around now. I could be completely wrong because I saw this on reddit.
lol. The songs are also, from what I understand, from "later"/2013 writing sessions, which only adds to the general confusion as to where these songs would fit. Taking that with a grain of salt as I (obviously) can't speak to the validity of that information.
Into Your Arms is very good, and feels a bit more completed than a lot of the album. The bus song is fucking insane.
Studio quality "Dogs" is out there now, that I think has Ender's Game audiobook readings in it? Pretty odd, and definitely prefer the "original" version. Some other things have leaked out, as well.
Yeah, not sure if it was meant to be like a placeholder for a different spoken word portion they wanted to add in later, but definitely bizarre. It’s basically throughout the entire song.
