Really too bad they never really fully realized this album, some of the stuff here is really cool and shows a whole new direction I think they could have pulled off, "Falling Down" in particular with the cool electronic soundscape feels very Radiohead inflenced
Lots of little moments here, but overall lacking "umph" and definitely see why it was scrapped. Can also attribute the lack of energy to these being demos (right?) Also seems like the direction is all over the place which isn't a bad thing, it's just a myriad of themes regarding darkness. Overall a wild piece of music history for this scene.
would like to be clear i do not have a link, i was just makin' a funny. apologies to those who have DM'd me asking for the link lol
Finding an album, discovering one of the tracks is misnamed and is a re-upload of the track before... This is all taking me back to 2003.
I don't have any interest in listening to this. It's cool in theory but unless someone is telling me the songs are amazing, no need to hear a half-finished product.
It's slow, clearly early pre-pro demos or at least scratch vocals. Interesting as a historical artifact of where the band was at the time, but I can clearly see why they've mentioned multiple times it was not at all in a place ready for release or anything like that. Unsure how much I'll listen to it, but if you're a hardcore fan or collector it's worth listening to as a part of the band's history. The CW release is significantly more replay-able though imo.
At least through the first 6 songs there's kind of a looseness to it that I like. Probably not as fleshed out or as big as the band would want to go, but I'm really liking it. Tried to have low expectations production-wise but it's super listenable
Looking back on the 2020 promos it feels like some of these songs were going to see the light of day in some official capacity. Maybe thats still the plan. I could see Paper Swords, War, Witch, Dogs, and Bike Thief being released or reworked. Also, Bike Thief sounds so much like a Smashing Pumpkin song.
There's some stuff on here I really like and some stuff I really don't like on here. I really don't care for the bluesey guitar solos, but those string and horn arrangements are tops!
