Bummed I had to miss tonight, but thinking about how a band I saw play for 20 people is now playing for 80,000 is just so god damn wild.
If you had told me way back when that I’d eventually get to see Green Day play Dookie/American Idiot on 8/9/24 and then My Chemical Romance play The Black Parade exactly one year to the day later, I’d probably say why didn’t MCR wait until 2026 to tour TBP in full? But in all seriousness, that was absolutely incredible. Lived up to the hype/wait/price (yay for Christmas presents). There are plenty of albums I’d still LIKE to see played in their entirety, but I’d say none that I really NEED to see after this one-two (technically three) punch over the past year.
Someone nabbed my yea / nay vote card while I was paying for parking at the train station, did anyone get an extra one? Haha
I grabbed a bunch while leaving the stadium because my nieces asked me to bring some home. I can mail you some if you want, let me know.
Great show last night but I feel like they personally trolled me playing 3 songs from Bullets (an album I don't really like) and a Bon Jovi cover. "Phil's here in the GA section? Let's play 3 Bullets songs and totally irritate him with a Bon Jovi cover."
Too many hot takes in this thread tbh!!! If anyone was like hey do you like bon Jovi I'd be like ehhh I guess yeah they have some jams but I don't go out of my way to listen to them. But when a song of theirs comes on the radio I'd be lying if I said I didn't turn it up every time And when I was a kid me and my two friends choreographed an entire dance routine to It's My Life So maybe I do like bon Jovi lol
Their covers have been fun, I think Bon Jovi is a great one to cover. It's reminiscent of the kind of songs band would cover back in the early days (Punk Goes Pop era). Despite what I said about Bullets, Early Sunsets, Vampires, Demolition are obviously great, so any of those in the set is a good thing. I'd be disappointed not to see Vampires now! But I appreciate my opinions might not be the same as others, as I haven't seen them since 2005 (saw them three times in 2004 & 2005, one pre-Three Cheers). Although I plan to change that when they tour Europe next year! I've broken the seal on "big" gigs, and I'm not so adverse to them now.
how dare Gerard be happy that a nerdy kid from New Jersey got to play MetLife and get the key to the city, fuck him
I got to both Three Cheers and Black Parade yesterday and that firmly confirmed my belief that those are two of the greatest albums ever recorded
I am doing a deep dive into this band’s b-sides today (and to an extent Bullets which I have largely ignored for some reason) and man I was dumb for not doing this before, huh
Their setlist last night was my favorite so far, even with the Bon Jovi cover. I just want Fashion Statement at my show.
Got last minute tickets and went and I’m so happy I did. I couldn’t believe it when I saw people sitting on their phones playing games or reading looking bored during Thursday/Death Cab. I was thinking “do you not realize how amazing to have openers this good?????”
