It's because we lack any financial sense.

    It’s really eye opening.

My four Eras Tour front floor tickets for the first night at Wembley came to £400 ($500ish) in total. You just assume that’s normal until you see people have paid 5x that to see her in like New Jersey or whatever. I think my ticket for MCR’s comeback tour in Milton Keynes was about £50 iirc.

We think we have it bad with ticket prices but I honestly would NEVER go to big gigs if they were the prices posted here. I love MCR but $400+ is insane. It’s possibly cheaper for Americans to fly here than go to one in their own cities. I thought there was some proposals or a lawsuit going on in the US, but I could be mistaken?

Standing for MCR was £80ish for me, which I remember at the time feeling like a LOT of money, but now that feels standard for any gig above arena size. Just had to turn down seeing Deftones for around the same next year as, just like MCR, the additional cost of travel and accommodation when a band only plays one (usually Southern) gig results in almost holiday-level money for one gig. Stuff like Oasis makes me think it's just a matter of time before US prices are the norm here too.

On your last point, when Zach Bryan played a 1500 cap venue in Copenhagen last year, there were legitimately more Americans in the audience who’d flown in to see him than there were Danes. Two people in line told me that it was cheaper for them to buy round trip flights, two nights at a hotel, and the $40 concert tickets here than just buying second-hand tickets for a show in their home state. Just crazy.

  5. People use the phrase "nostalgia act" like it's derogatory.

Band just sold 365,000 tickets in a few days. That's rarified air for any musical act in 2024, let alone a guitar band.

We can still be mad at the prices though, right?

  7. dunno, will high prices make you vote for trump? heard that's the rage.

Can confirm - went to the Eras Tour in Amsterdam in July and there were so many Americans. It wasn’t just the pricing, it was the availability of tickets in general too

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

I mean voting for Trump means private business will continue to squeeze every last dime out of the average American

So I can probably try to find a correlation that a trump vote is a vote for dynamic pricing with TM/LV

  11. i've made peace with the bands squeezing all the dollars out of us that we didn't give them when we pirated their music during our teenage years. the big giant venue shows are a once a year or at best twice a year for me thing at best. glad this isn't coming to portland and i'm not tempted tbh

That's my thoughts on it too. Plus i wasn't allowed to go to any shows as a teen (only show was TBS/AVA in 2006), so i feel like i get to make up for that now that i make adult money lol. Also relieved MCR put on a hell of a great show here in 2022 so i don't feel i'm missing out. With that said, if i can get a cheapish ticket the day of, I may be tempted. B-)

Jimmy Eat World personally forgave me for pirating their music. I'm living life in the light and thus deserve discounts.

I'm grateful most of my favorite artists do not consistently play stadiums or even arenas. Oasis was enough stress this year.

I have about 800 cds boxed up in my basement. I wasn't a criminal who pirated music. I was a good boy who routinely bought CDs in middle/high school/college.

I shall be rewarded as such!

I pirated music and the artists told me "we will make @MidDave and @ncarrab pay more for concerts as a result" and I accepted those terms

My favorite memory of all the shitton of music I bought was that I used to ball up the Best Buy bags and throw them in the space on my driver-side door. To the point where I had hundreds of bags, that for whatever reason, I never recycled or threw away. Fast forward to me being 19 and driving to Windsor, Canada (to gamble and drink like a BAD BOY) and the border security made me pull my car over to the side and they literally went through every single bag, only to find out they were all empty.

    Good times.
