@heymattrick that's crazy! To think that a lot of these tickets are like $400 more than Taylor Swift when comparing the face value.

It is honestly kinda crazy to me that so many people are willing to pay hundreds for a single ticket.

I agree it’s wild, but I understand. At the end of the day, I’m not missing this tour. I refuse to miss the opportunity to see MCR if they’re playing shows, so when push comes to shove, I will pay whatever I have to in order to go to the shows. But not right now - I will wait until prices drop significantly, unless they don’t, in which case at the last minute I will pay what it takes to go. Fortunately for MCR I’ve never had to end up paying over face value.

Again, this supports everything I've been saying but inevitably when this happens for the next big tour we'll go back to the "OMG Ticketmaster/Live Nation are gouging fans" discourse.

The price was a little tough to swallow but after the reunion tour I have full faith they’ll deliver something worthwhile. That show was sick.

The reunion tour setlists definitely made it worth it. The production was good but very simple. I really think they need to go full-in with production and staging on this tour for it to work. If they just repeat the WWWY production that will certainly not be well-received.

The B-stage certainly has me intrigued. They’ve never done that before.

There's no doubt in my mind that the production value of this show is going to be top notch. Especially considering the tour related marketing materials have been high quality so far.

Lol why are they lying? I can literally see San Francisco non resold tickets that are still available, i've been following it waiting for a price drop.

It’s awfully bold of them to make a post saying Sold Out when it’s quite literally not sold out. There are plenty of non-resale tickets available. You can go on Ticketmaster right now at any date and look. Even the caption is contradictory by saying there’s still tickets to LA available.

Ahh, so that's the new move...allow 40% of your tickets to be marked up as Platinum then you can say it's sold old even if there's not tickets sold! Are we really saying "because everyone else is doing it" that we can't call it out for what it is? A blue dot on Ticketmaster is a blue dot to me. There's also a fuckton of pink dots, for whatever that's worth.

Like, I'm not trying to say this tour is selling poorly by any means (it's not...except for LA night 2), but it's just a straight up lie either way.

It may not apply to all dates, but I was in the first 4000 in the queue for LA Night 2 when it went on sale. Every single ticket on the field was marked as Platinum, every single seat. And I have more screen shots to prove it. Every seat in the lowest bowl was also marked platinum. It was only the upper decks of the stadium that were marked either "Preferred Seating" (which are the four seats on each side of the aisle, with the middle seats marked as Standard. It was easily 40% of the tickets marked as Platinum when that onsale started. That field seats thousands, and the lower bowl as well. That's not overly dramatic or obviously false at all.

@heymattrick I wonder if it is a sales tactic to have the rest of the tickets sold quickly, I can imagine others panic buying what's left of the tickets.

Also platinum tickets are sold tickets. They’re tickets bought by livenation so they can resell for an up charge, which is terrible practice that’s allowed to exist but to the band that’s considered sold.

Alright, I'm sorry for being negative & dramatic about ticket prices. It's just a bummer and I'm salty I couldn't get tickets because of it. I'm excited for the tour and I'll make it to a couple shows somehow.

Was just watching a video from one of my favorite moments I was ever able to witness at a My Chem show...when they played Bulletproof Heart live at Milton Keynes in 2022. I couldn't believe they were actually playing it, my 2nd favorite MCR song (after Famous Last Words), and it was so amazing seeing it in a stadium.

When the whole crowd started jumping during the first verse (around 0:52 in this video), it was ON. What a special night. Then they also played it first night of the US Tour in Oklahoma City which I camped for and was on the barricade for. I love that song so damn much and I wish it was a more regular setlist staple.

the scales always find a way to level out Supporter

Reading this thread it's always unbelievable to me how bad ticketing is in the US right now. My front pit GA ticket for Taylor Swift in Stockholm was roughly $150 including all fees and that was generally considered an expensive ticket.

Can't imagine MCR tickets would be much more than $70 including fees next time they play Scandinavia. Maybe $80 if they play arenas, but even blink-182 was $70 for GA standing at the Royal Arena show last year, with the most expensive inner circle tickets costing around $100.

They're a nostalgia act in almost every sense of the words. They're past their prime and came out of retirement as a band to play old music and sell expensive tickets. They are doing shows with large ticket prices based around their older, most popular, album.

They're kinda getting old themselves at this point (I mean, Gerard is almost 50) and have been doing other things in life rather than being a band. Now they reunited and are basically just playing old material.

A large part of their original demographic is now much older and view this band as something they used to listen to in middle school/high school/college/etc. That's nostalgia.

This "emo scene"-style of music they came from is definitely a nostalgia thing at this point. There's emo nights at bars and what not....just like there's 80s night, or 90s night, etc.

This isn't exactly a band that stayed creative and relevant or even involved in music much recently.

....that sounds like the definition of a nostalgia act to me. No offense to the band and it's fanbase...not trying to hate, but it is what it is. Time marches on.

I think most promoters are considering arena/stadium shows "sold out" with a pretty loose criteria across the board nowadays.

I've seen plenty of tours/venues make claims to being "sold out" despite there being plenty of platinum tickets and single-seats lol. As long as the face value ticket pairs are gone, they call it a day lol.

I'm seeing Oasis both in the UK and in the US next year. Both shows I got GA floor tickets, and the US tickets were 25% more expensive than UK. Which is especially wild considering Oasis is 10x bigger in the UK.

The US has got to get their shit together when it comes to ticketing. Maybe it's artists asking for larger guarantees, maybe it's the venues drastically increasing their rental fees, or maybe it's Live Nation not giving the artists a reasonable cut of concession sales. My guess is the latter but I'm not an expert on the matter.

I don’t think it’s any of the three. They’ve just realized the threshold for what they can get away with in the US to make more profit.

Yeah I think, for whatever reasons, Americans are more apt to paying premiums for luxury events/goods. UK/Europe seems to have a different attitude thus why when American bands try to charge US prices it doesn't end well (a la Pearl Jam in the UK recently).
