Can't agree with the latter. Only 3 TBP songs were staples every show (+ Mama at 65/70). Most people are not invested on if an act played a song at a show thousands of miles away, they only care what they saw.
It’s hard for me to imagine Gerard actually wanting to do a TBP tour. It’s just for the $ at this point.
You're not wrong, but I also didn't say "every show" either, so the question then becomes how many people want a full album performance vs. how many people want a new album.
Just for me personally a Black Parade tour isn't something I'd be interested in seeing and it would pretty much confirm that the band is more of a nostalgia/legacy thing now and new music probably isn't happening any time soon, if at all. We've had one song from them in over 10 years and it's probably my favourite song that's been released in that time so it would be incredibly disappointing to see a band who still has the ability to make the best music in the world have no interest in actually making something new.
I feel the majority would prefer to buy tickets right now for a tour where they're guaranteed to know every song and not half the set being taken up with "new content" which they may or may not like. Doing a tour doesn't prevent them from releasing a new song / ep next year but feels like it does make more sense to capitalize and get in a stadium run with a Parade tour then have a clean slate to roll out new music and do smaller venues on that. There is no guarantees a new album would be a commercial success and even if it was - no guarantees a tour for it would sell well. See FOB's last tour (second leg in particular) and Brendon Urie's last attempt before quitting. tldr: doesn't seem to be an album done and it's easier to segway from a successful stadium tour for nostalgia to an arena/smaller tour for new music
this is entirely your problem though lol youre describing entitlement. the band does not owe us any new music. you being upset/frustrated or "frothing" at the thought of new music is completely on you lol i want new music. i will be sorta meh if the announcement is just a tour. but i will also then simply carry on (pun intended) with my day excited for another opportunity to see a good band i very much enjoy. how have we gaslit ourselves into thinking this band owes us an album?? lol there so much grass outside to be touched
To add onto this: In a world full of so much bs and sadness, an MCR tour in any capacity will have me happy as hell
An MCR tour in any capacity would make most of us happy, but other things can be true at the same time… -A Black Parade tour would be a bizarre choice. Celebrating what, the 18.5th or 19th anniversary? WWWY was billed as an exclusive performance of the album, and the production was very simple and no frills. -Stadiums are also questionable to me. If it’s 5 or less dates I could possibly see it, but they haven’t had this meteoric rise since their arena tour in 2022 without new music that would catapult them to stadiums. Remember, the touring market is soft, and even the 2nd day of WWWY didn’t sell out this year with MCR headlining with that exact album. -Either way I’m excited, this is the most hopeful I’ve been in a while that it could actually be new music.
I don’t think it’s weird at all for them not to want to wait for a specific anniversary year to tour the album when you consider how fucked over their reunion got by the pandemic. Why wait any longer? Anything can happen, if you can do it now, do it now.
