As much as I enjoy Frank Turner (and his set seemed somewhat in keeping with the tone of an MCR support act), still a weird choice to open
After twelve long years, Danger Days has (mostly) grown on me in the last two weeks. The love performances have really sold me on the songs.
Literally same, been giving it a lot of playtime lately to see if it would grow on me and yeah I fucking love it now lol
Planetary is so good. Not a huge fan of the chorus in Sing which puts it pretty low on my list but the verses and bridge are still really good.
I quite enjoy sing for what it is. The song that’s really opened by eyes to how good the album is lately is scarecrow
I admittedly never gave Summertime much of a chance until y’all started chatting it up a couple weeks ago. Song rules. What a damn fool I was.
Sing just shows how effective they are at writing a tight pop song. Historically their straight pop songs have always been extremely good. I’m not okay, ghost of you, dead, welcome to the black parade, etc they tend to knock it out of the park when they go for it. I’m not huge on teenagers but there’s really no denying the songwriting chops on display there
I genuinely believe they wrote sing to prove they could write a song poppy enough for Glee as an intellectual challenge lol
I was so disappointed when they first played Party Poison as Death Before Disco with Kiss the Ring but I ended up loving it on the album.
I think Danger Days would flow better if they moved SING to after The Only Hope For Me Is You, before the “intermission”. I love the flow of the back half of the record though. Party Poison > Save Yourself > Scarecrow > Summertime > Destroya > Kids. Such a good run. I like Vampire Money at the end but I can’t stand that noise at the end of the national anthem.
