If Paramore drops a song this year emo is going to explode. I hope this inspires the western music industry to push bands again. I think people love groups and K-pop has mostly filled that gap while the industry has shifted towards solo acts, but maybe MCR/Paramore can spark a movement.
was not expecting this at all but holy shit this song rules also re: the production - this quote from 2013 has always stuck with me lol "I love really shitty sounding drums. I really do. The kick drum needs to sound like cardboard. The ride cymbal... basically it needs to sound like Static Age by The Misfits, that's how the drums should always sound. When you are part of this large machinery, it is almost impossible to convince anyone that that's the way something should sound. It's very difficult to say "I need this to sound like shit". And then you meet producers, and you get all kinds of responses back like "Well, I don't even know how to do that. I don't know how to make shitty sounds" - because there's no other way to describe it. "Lo-fi" doesn't work. "Indie" doesn't work..."
I get more Science Fiction vibes than Devil and God, but yes, the Brand New influence is very strong on this.
I mean, it’s fuzzy and noisy. I can name many things that sound like that which aren’t Brand New. It’s like every time someone says a song sounds like NIN and it’s nothing like it.
Okay I listened to it but didn't think of brand new but maybe I never listened to brand new enough to catch that. For some reason smashing pumpkins came to my brain first
I didn’t get BN at all. I finished it and was just like “yep that’s an MCR song. A good one but very very much them.”
Oh damn. Stoked to listen after I eat. I wish I knew this was out when I was at the gym fuck lol Love The Bullets comps
