Also, listened to Homeless Gospel Choir and I could not vibe with it. Tinny drums, nasal vocals, twangy guitars, just all of the things I hate about pop-punk. I think if you liked Modern Baseball or The Front Bottoms, you'd love HGC but I always preferred pop-punk to either be fast and aggressive (TSSF, Wonder Years, Trash Boat) or polished and melodic (State Champs, Neck Dee, Waterparks). This more lofi, indie stuff never appealed to me.
I would say both Weezer and My Chem are meme-y these days. Weezer intentionally so, My Chem just a byproduct of social media users.

In 2021 Weezer had a #1 song on the Rock charts with All My Favorite Songs, in 2020 they had a #1 song on the Rock charts with End of the Game, and in 2019 they had a top 40 song with their Africa cover. I can't think of another rock band that's had more mainstream success than them in recent years besides Tame Impala and The 1975. But I totally agree with you about MCR. In about 2 years once their reunion wave subsides, they'll be back to mid sized theaters.
