Sing The Sorrow was as big for me as Three Cheers when I was younger. I don't like anything after STS but that record is still fantastic and I do love All Hallows EP and The Art of Drowning
Black Sails, All Hallows, Art of Drowning, and Sing The Sorrow. Amazing and important run of albums for me.
Well if there's one thing everyone can agree on, it's that we all see AFI every time we see this sticker on a car
Used to love STS but it hasn’t aged well for me. MCR just blows them out of the water. Not the same league.
Huge AFI fan, like a die hard at one point, but I find their songs aging less and less gracefully as time goes by. They’re great musicians and great people, but it doesn’t feel like they ever quite figured out how to involve the totality of themselves in their music. Maybe it’s also overly serious. My chem is a lot more fun about it all
Sing The Sorrow rips tho, def their peak. Buncha great songs, great performances and amazing production. Which, I think is mostly Butch Vig? I’ve always been kinda unclear about Jerry’s role, but I get the impression (based on nothing? Maybe things butch and joe mcgrath have said?) Jerry’s was more of an advisory role… Really love the b sides too:
the weird thing about the tweet is keegan followed up saying he thought MCR was pretty self-serious and AFI at least had a sense of humor about them which seems … to be the complete opposite of reality??
I mean yeah MCR songs are gonna stand the test of time because a majority of that catalog was aimed for the masses.
Lol I remember an old review of black parade saying they took themselves too srsly. It's funny how ppl can be on the opposite sides of the spectrum like that
There's a bunch of new Danger Days related merch items in the MCR store on their website. Edit: found a tweet with some pics. Also $$$$
