highly doubt the band would be cool with her tweeting that out, knowing the stir it might cause, considering how secretive they are about everything. the tshirts thing is interesting, but, also doubt theyd debut new album announcement merch at hot topic rather than sell it in their own webstore. just trying to save you all from the inevitable getting your hopes up lol
I think that's exactly why it suddenly getting removed from the Hot Topic website is notable. It probably wasn't supposed to be revealed yet but somehow those items got uploaded to HT and once attention was drawn to it, somebody in the band's camp may have asked them to pull the items.
Yeahhhh I don’t think Mikaela’s tweet has anything to do with MCR. She primarily does graphic design for smaller-mid tier bands and while yes, she works with the punk scene MCR just doesn’t seem like a band she would work with. I mean sure, it’s possible, but I highly suspect it’s not them and MCR isn’t the only band that fits the description she gave.
might fuck around and buy a ticket for one of the shows happening while i’m in LA @Drew Beringer fly out so we can levitate during sharpest lives
Sharpest Lives live in 2021 would be so sick. Really curious to see what type of setlist they'll pull out for arena/stadium shows.
part of the reason i'm actively not hoping for new music before I get to see them is because I really wanted a 2 hour set of just old MCR. If this goes to 2022 it'll be 15 years since I last saw them, at that moment I'll have 0 desire to hear a new tune lol
Can they please have massive amounts of pyro on this tour please. Gimme those flamethrowers during Mama and Famous Last Words
I have never seen MCR live and if they were to release a new album and fill up setlist spots with new songs that otherwise would have been for older material, I would be a bit annoyed.
I feel like they won’t rob fans of that experience (as in: not doing the hits and shit like that). But I would not be shocked to see a new song (s) thrown in that equation.
I do think if they are going to release new material they're holding it back until after the reunion shows for that exact reason which is honestly more upsetting to me than not getting to see them yet lol. I mean I want to see all the old stuff live too but damn do I want new music more than anything.
What if they released a single (maybe max 2) prior to the tour, with an album after? COVID might have changed their plans to wait until after the tour
I would be cool with them releasing an album after the tour. After this tour concludes the hype will have slightly died down so people won't be itching to see them to "finally see them live" or "hear the hits they have waited so long to hear". A new album would be perfect them. They could hit up spots they aren't hitting up for this tour as well.
They might do that, that's kinda what I was expecting before everything happened. Maybe some sort of announcement and a single just before the first shows. The first time I saw them was before Danger Days came out but they already had Na Na Na out so we got a full set from the first three albums along with Na Na Na and it was fucking sick. That would be ideal, I just hope I don't need to wait until 2023 before I know whether we're going to get new music or not, haha.
He only did the Revenge cover and that was originally just supposed to be a concept piece. I would love another cover by him though.
My only request is if they only play one song from Conventional Weapons please let it be Boy Division.
He should hire some of the dope comic book artists he's directly or indirectly collaborated with in recent years, between the Young Animal stuff at DC & his own stuff. Nick Derington, Leonardo Romero, Mike Allred, Marley Zarcone... I think he even got Jaime Hernandez to do a Doom Patrol variant? Gimme some Jaime MCR art, please.
I do wonder if there's a new album if they're going to really dive into the whole storyline/visuals and play characters and shit like usual. I could see them toning that down a little now that they and their fanbase are older, but at the same time that's such a vital part of MCR too
I hope they learned from Danger Days - they created this whole world, visuals, characters, etc., did these elaborate music videos, and then none of that translated to the live show (because they wanted to “strip it down”). You can’t create this massive thing while simultaneously “stripping it down”. This is one band that should never try “stripping it down”. Based on An Offering and A Summoning, I hope they’re doubling down on “going big”
Agreed. I didn't get the chance to see them live during the Black Parade era, but I saw videos and loved the theatrics. Then when I saw them on the Blink co-headliner I was surprised by the stage production. (Still was an awesome show). Not only is Danger Days my favorite album of theirs, but I also love the aesthetic of the era. Wish it translated more live. Watching videos of the Shrine show from 2019 it actually threw me off at first seeing Gerard in regular clothing lol. I can't to see what they do once this tour finally happens!
