I tried many times to get into it over the years and it never truly clicked. I think it's a bit too mid-tempo-y for me maybe ? I always end up bored after the first few songs.
I also prefer Danger Days to TBP, but they're both amazing records to me. For some reason the only MCR I've never gotten into was Bullets.
I'll always think black parade is their magnum opus, but danger days is my favorite world they've built around an era. It's just so aesthetically satisfying.
happy birthday I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love i can't believe we all turned emo 15 years ago today
Bullets is my favorite MCR album. It's been my favorite since I was 11 and TBP came out. This is the Best Day Ever made me form a pop punk band and wish I was Frank Iero. So crazy looking back on that haha
Headfirst for Halos will always be my fav from Bullets. The first time I saw it played live I thought I was gonna lose my mind, so much joy and insanity for those glorious three and a half minutes.
Listening to Three Cheers and I just love how subtly cohesive it is. Its so gothic and macabre with all these references to ghosts, death, blood, blades etc but also little things like the hearse in Helena or that creepy church organ that opens Jetset, the coffins mentioned in Venom, the cemetery in Cemetery Drive, all of that stuff just adds to this really really interesting celebration of gothic horror and the tropes that make it up. I also like that the band uses these tropes as a way to tackle some interesting topics like trauma, fame, drug use, etc. idk im sure this is all already known by the majority of you but im just in awe at the little details that Gerard packs in to make this album, as well as Bullets and Parade, to make them feel so cohesive. Three Cheers reminds me a lot of The Ugly Organ as well in that TUO uses a lot of the same gothic horror influences to tell a story as well as tackle some interesting topics.
About that time of year to jam to The Black Parade, But first...I must drive through the desert with my windows down, a/c on, and blast Danger Days while imagining we are some of the few people left after an apocalypse. This weekend should be a good one.
It blows my mind knowing that I use to hear this stuff from three cheers revenge on the radio lol. Times have changed.
Every time this thread gets bumped, there's a small amount of hope inside me that it's solid rumors for their return.
