Yeah - you can only release an album once, they (well, the label) are going to want to get as much money out of that one chance as possible.
i mean for fucks sake artists who put out music every 2 years are delaying releases lol you think the comeback album from MCR (if its even happening) is gonna come out during a time like this?
No need to be so aggressive about it. Never said *right now*. They now have potentially 14 more months before they may play a show again. Just seemed like it was possible for them to shift their plans around and shift the focus to new music since they can't play shows yet.
Saying that they’re not capitalizing is dumb. They literally sold our every single show. There’s nothing else to capitalize on right now. They probably don’t have new music to put out. Even if they did, it’s definitely not coming any time soon given the world situation.
I said not FULLY capitalizing on the hype. They've been almost entirely silent aside from announcing shows and now delaying shows. They've also refused to do any interviews about the reunion whatsoever.
They don’t need to do interviews. They want to play some shows, I don’t think there’s some ulterior motive here and maybe that’s why they aren’t doing interviews? Or they had a plan of how they wanted to roll things out? Idk. They sold out arenas. There’s not much reason for them to do anything else right now. They capitalized on hype of people missing them.
With US dates inevitably being rescheduled, and Coachella inevitably getting cancelled in October, I wonder if Goldenvoice is trying to nab them to headline in 2021.
Relieved the UK dates were rescheduled and not cancelled because I do not have the mental strength to try and get tickets again.
can you imagine how every single interview with every single website, blog, music magazine, what have you would go with MCR?? lol Taking Back Sunday has been 're-united' for a DECADE now and people in interviews are STILL asking them to talk about 'how it happened'.
i think my question is more, how should they be further capitalizing on reunion hype? sold out world tour, new merch, wildly cryptic and enticing roll-out for the world tour dates announcement.....besides the obvious answer of new music, what more could they have done/be doing?
Interview with Gerard in 2021: "It was crazy, no one even contacted us for an interview! This publication is the only request we even got!"
Obviously I'm in the wrong since everyone is jumping on me. I just meant the fact they've been almost completely silent aside from announcing the shows, and now delaying them. No interviews, very little social media activity, not even really saying much at the Shrine show aside from "it's good to be back". I just thought it was strange, and the longer they went with being silent, wasn't capitalizing. They announced the reunion on Halloween with all of these new icons and symbols, and then went back into hibernating practically until the Shrine show. We still don't even really know what the symbols were for. I figured if they played shows in March like they were scheduled to, there would be some other activity but those got postponed. Other bands are doing live streams, releasing new songs, etc., but MCR has chosen to remain silent. I'm sorry for sharing my thoughts on the matter. I'll refrain from doing so in the future.
Even the ones before 2002 owe it to him, as their music was only created to be stepping stones to Burt. MCR won’t make a new album, because they know they can’t compare to the 2020 masterpiece of Heartwork
