Yeah can't see Download going ahead unfortunately :( devastating, but ultimately the right call (if they do can it).
man, it's really crazy. In the beginning of the year 2020 was feeding us with so much joy and happiness, new music, a ton of band reuinons and tours.... then boom, it all gets taken away
Fall is one of the busiest times for tours too, though and a lot of the bands I wanted to see this spring had fall tour plans so I'm really not sure how postponed shows are going to end up panning out. Also, relevant to this thread, my working theory was that if MCR planned on releasing new music, they were going to do a reunion world tour first, cash that check, then announce new music and tour off that for the next year. Postponing shows could mean that all gets thrown off and either AUS/NZ/JP and maybe UK don't get reunion shows at all or whatever they have planned for after the reunion shows ends up getting postponed, too. Idk obviously i'm just speculating and we live in very very uncertain times. Regardless I agree with Steve...so far, 2020 suuuucks
Very poorly worded on their part, but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t intend to be shitty towards MCR.
tbh I hope they issue some type of clarification/apology, and quickly. it looks horrible on their part regardless of intent.
Nah this isn’t super deep, but it very clearly reads as “MCR’s decision to postpone cancelled your festival and our tour.” They are grown ass men with a PR team, there is no way they didn’t word this intentionally when they could have just said “due to the situation / for public safety the festival is getting cancelled and the tour is postponed” without mentioning MCR at all. It seems like the festival was on its way to cancellation anyways.
It’s like the Donovan Mitchell post that shades Rudy gobert lol, except MCR didn’t cough on anybody’s stuff
I don't think deftones would've worded their statement that way if Download hadn't essentially said the same thing in theirs, which was wildly irresponsible and unprofessional on their part imo. It read as if they were blaming their headliner for a global pandemic and that had MCR not cancelled, they fully intended to put on the festival regardless of the recommendations of authorities.
I can't stop watching videos from the Return show. It was such a magical night and I'm so happy I got to experience it. I was very much looking forward to having new live videos to watch in a few days, but I understand. Selfishly hoping the UK shows in June end up happening, and beyond. I wonder if this changes their plans at all. Maybe their focus will shift to new music since things are on hold for a while (probably not though).
Download's official statement was utter bullshit. They pretty much threw MCR under the bus when it would have been irresponsible for it to go ahead.
If the statement was enough to get Ray to speak out about it, I'm inclined to believe it was made in a passive aggressive manner tbh
