I just remember my mom always thought Teenagers and Mama were hilarious when I played them She didn't try to really understand the lyrical content, but the chorus of Teenagers cracked her up and just thought Mama was so bizarre and would sing along laughing at Gerard singing "Mama we all go to hell" and him wailing "MAMA.. MAMAA" toward the end Ironic because Mama is probably one of the best songs they've written and has pretty meaningful lyrics when you really listen to them
I love that little "kick your feet in the air" jump Gerard does at the start of the chorus of Teenagers live. He did it at the Return show and I nearly squealed.
I think I've shared my controversial opinion before but my two least favs on Black Parade are Cancer and I Don't Love You.
Cancer is a hauntingly beautiful song that sounds way too overproduced on the album and was ruined for me because they played it literally every time I saw them (until the Return show) and they CLOSED with it six of those times.
speaking of myspace, there’s a website where you can download old music from it but only ranging between certain years. i think it works better on chrome https://ia903003.us.archive.org/19/items/myspace_dragon_hoard_searcher/viewer.html
If not for this band, I wouldn’t be here now. Three Cheers was the first album I bought and I was obsessed. Gerard was my idol growing up. The impact the band has had is huge. as for the lyrics, it’s part of the aesthetic.
I go back and forth with Mama a lot. I know it’s a huge fan favorite but it’s never actually been a favorite of mine. Some of the rhyming in the lyrics really annoys me sometimes.
It was when I first heard it. I remember when it leaked and I was all "wth". Then I thought it was way better when I heard the entire album. But Teenagers is my least favorite on the album. Sleep, Mama, and Dead are fantastic.
Fuck of a gun is an interesting turn of phrase Didn't like Mama when I was 11 hearing it for the first time, but I love it now
For me, Sleep is the song I did not appreciate as much before but have lately been thinking of as one of my favorites
“I hate the ending myself, but it started with an alright scene” AND “I spent my high school career spit on and shoved to agree so I could watch all my heroes sell a car on TV” They’re just too good.
