Idk, is it really "good business" to give the idea to all of your prospective clients that you can't be trusted to hold your end of a deal? Who wants to go into business with someone like that? I otherwise agree, though, it makes sense financially to have RATM headline, just kind of shitty if there were already separate plans in place and agreed upon
You have to get past the idea of "good business" or "bad business" when it comes to something on such a massive scale of booking acts for the largest US festival. Every single year there are artists who are at odds with the festival for a variety of reasons, you can't please everyone. That being said, we don't know a single thing about what deals or contracts were or were not in place, so the say something like "you can't be trusted to hold your end of the deal" is quite misguided with literally zero actual information.
Festival contracts are written in pencil. Things change so often. Should bands that bail on festivals be held accountable for “bad business”? It happens on both ends. It didn’t work out, like it doesn’t work out for so many bands scheduled for so many festivals.
The amount of artists that drop from festivals is gigantic. It is constant movement. You just don’t hear about 99% of them because they aren’t some massively popular band/artist
Very good points. Admittedly, I don't know much about the festival scene in general, I was just looking at it from a client-business view. But there are always unique cases such as these. Oh yeah, I definitely meant it in an "if the rumors are true" sort of way. That's why I said "if there were already separate plans in place and agreed upon".
I could almost guarantee that if Coachella offered MCR the headlining spot next year, they’d take it in a heartbeat (assuming they are still active at that point).
i get it from both sides. i get them being disappointed being bumped from headlining but there's also zero scenario where they should headline over RATM, or travis/frank.
I do appreciate the mystery but I also like when they post that I can just wait a few minutes and someone else has done all the hard work to decipher any clues
I feel like some people don’t understand the magnitude of RATM and them reuniting. MCR reuniting is a pretty big deal but they are not nor were they ever on the scale RATM is/was. RATM reuniting is a huge deal. Sure, MCR may have more streams and views but that doesn’t negate RATM’s popularity/size. I’m not saying this is any of you, but I’ve seen this view on this site and elsewhere.
Im still hoping all the witchy imagery is leading to The Paper Kingdom finally coming out. Or at least some new music.
I would have thought Reading/Leeds was nailed on for UK date as they are due to announce the lineup any time now but all signs seem to be pointing to them being added to Download.
I feel like MK stadium isn't really "only uk appearance" kind of venue. MK Bowl yes, but stadium is a weird one.
I'm not going to pretend to know anything about reunion's and contract negotiations for festivals/tours, but although MCR reunited on Oct. 31 and RATM reunited a day later, those reunions were in the works for months, if not years prior (in case of MCR, literally years) to their official reunion announcements. I'm sure any band that was negotiating a headlining (or any) slot with Coachella was probably in talks for months and months and months in advance of the official Coachella announcement. I highly doubt RATM just announced a reunion on Nov. 1 and then started to get to work on contract negotiations with Coachella/festivals/tours. My guess is they too were in the works of scheduling things prior to their official announcement. I just find it hard to believe that Coachella was so caught off guard that RATM reunited/were available that they had to go back to MCR and be like 'nah, we're going with them because they just reunited.'
Rammstein did literally just that last year so that's actually the most plausible thing about it for me.
I know the poster has been confirmed fake, but the Milton Keynes rumor persists...wouldn't they be playing the National Bowl (like Green Day and the Foo Fighters) instead of the stadium?
you would think so, but they used to only do only gig a year there, and haven’t any in a while, and Knotfest is taking place there in the summer too.
Rammstein was at the stadium last year. They’ve also had stuff as big as like Take That there so it could be there. I’d think they’d be able to fill the bowl though if it’s just the one UK date. I’m gonna be pissed if it ends up being on the 20th though as I’m at a festival that weekend
