I usually try to give something an honest chance before writing it off, so even though I haven’t liked a Waterparks song I’ve heard I decided to give their newest album a shot... Man idk why I did that to myself, that shit was TERRIBLE
I’m all for bands trying new things and actually innovating... but I don’t think Waterparks are doing that. I personally hear so many of the same old scene cliches that some of the lesser pop punk bands have recycled for years, with some slightly different window dressing to try to appear “new” and also deflect criticism of their poor songwriting. Ok sorry I’m done. Was just late to this conversation and don’t care for that band at all lol
Y'all see? This is valid criticism! I disagree, but he actually put effort into articulating his opinion, which I respect.
No one should be expected to write a whole paragraph to explain why they don’t like something. Just let it go already.
I mean, that's fair, but it just kinda goes deeper than that for me. I have a huge amount of respect for the people on this forum, I consider many of y'all friends, so it's not like y'all are randos on the internet. So when people have opinions divergent of mine it makes me second-guess my opinion, and when no one explains WHY they feel the way they feel, it makes me feel like I'm going fucking insane. I'm like "What the fuck do they see wrong with it that I don't? Am I just a fucking idiot?" because I suddenly feel really shitty about my taste in music cause it feels like everyone else can just FEEL something is bad without explaining it or analyzing it which is something I fundamentally can't do. So I suddenly feel like I should feel guilty for liking what I like, but I just fucking CAN'T find anything wrong with it because NO ONE ARTICULATES ANY CRITICISM I just end up feeling like I'm fucking stupid.
Stop caring so much about people not liking things that you like then. I mean, there are plenty of artists I like that none of my friends like or care to listen to/discuss. That's fine. I don't expect all my friends to get on board with Deafheaven or Sigur Ros or whatever and they don't owe me an explanation as to why not.
Yeah for real, I wouldn't worry about if other people like bands you like, it's subjective. I don't like Waterparks, but you probably don't like some stuff I like. I won't let it even slightly tarnish my enjoyment of those artists though. Just do you :)
I understand that it can be frustrating when you really love something and people are dunking all over it, but yeah ultimately it doesn’t matter. We all like something Bad.
YOU MAKE ME FEEL THAT NA NA NA NA NA YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO NA NA NA NA NA YOU MAKE ME FEEL THAT Speaking of, what are these guys up to these days? Are they even still a band?
Well I actually never listened to that album lol They broke up a while back. There was an interesting profile on Gabe I read somewhere recently
