Now I'm mainly hoping that this all doesn't lead to JUST Thursday at that Roxy gig. I'd think MCR would need/want a "real show" vibe to dust off the cobwebs before the big $150/ticket Shrine return, but what do I know
I thought it was confirmed that their most recent touring drummer was back? Either way if they need a back up I learned the first 3 albums front to back in high school.
Again I don’t see any reason for Thursday to play a secret show for $50 when I paid less to see them at the Wiltern their first reunion show in 2017.
thrice is the only one who rivals thursday for me. having listened to MCR pretty much all this week for the first time, i could have seen them up there too if i had the nostalgia attached to it.
I lied. TBS didn't actually get me into MCR. I probably heard/saw Helena first, but it was around the same time that I got both albums, three cheers and where you want to be. I listened more to TBS before I listened to all of Three Cheers though. I was stuck with Helena and I'm Not okay on repeat for months. Lol
Jueves show isn't on the calendar but if you click the link it says tix go on sale Friday the 15th now.
I was thinking a lot about MCR’s impact on me and although I spun Three Cheers frequently in high school (pretty sure I first heard it while hanging in a Hot Topic), I was really preoccupied with pop-punk bands like Good Charlotte and NFG and I listened to The Young and the Hopeless every day bc I had a lot of issues with my dad/family stuff and at the time GC was my rock and I wasn’t yet aware of how MCR could fit into that picture. It wasn’t until my sister died last year that MCR became truly therapeutic for me in ways I never realized they could before. I also feel like they’re such an embodiment of their songs—I remember hearing something about how Benji and Joel from GC weren’t really bullied or something along those lines and it was really disappointing to find out that my favorite band at the time didn’t really struggle the way I thought they had. So so grateful and thrilled that MCR are back.
Wow, just found this performance of Cancer and it's hands down the best I've seen from them. Figured I'd share it here because it can't be found anywhere on YouTube. Thought it was interesting how Ray is playing bass and they just stuck Mikey on tambourine lol
I dunno. I love Thursday, but I'd also put Thrice, Saosin, and Poison The Well in the top tier of post-hardcore along with them.
very intrigued by some of the album art I'm seeing here, especially all the brightly coloured illustrated ones. what are the artists/albums??
