some of you got into MCR due to their Thursday connection or as someone else said, by listening to TBS. i first heard of them by downloading Vampires May Never Hurt You off mp3.com
MCR has literally just always... been there for me? Idk when i got into them or anything. Ever since I remember listening to music beyond in my parent's car, they have been there. I assume Helena is the first one I heard so probably whenever that got big is when I started listening to them.
I genuinely can't remember what got me into MCR at first or if I started listening to them before TBS, but they were both around the same time. I remember first seeing a video for Helena on Fuse as a young middle schooler and being a little creeped out and wasn't into it lol. Then got more into them when TBP came out and it gave me a huge appreciation for Three Cheers. Honestly I think I just had a 7th grade girlfriend obsessed with them who told me I had to listen to them and it changed my life.
I remember having my mom scolding me for having recorded the Helena video from Steven's Untitled Rock Show and watching it so much because it "glorified death" as if our Christianity didn't lol
I sent that ticket link to 4 friends. 2 bought tix, one was at work and it went down before she saw my texts, and my other friend wouldn't commit lol.
My first exposure to MCR was picking up a sticker with their name on it on the ground at a Casualties show in very early 2004. Then I saw them the first time at Warped Tour 2004 and picked up Three Cheers.
I was in this patreon chat last night with Hawthorne Heights, and they told a cool story about how right after their guitarist Casey died, when they were gonna play bamboozle Gerard and Mikey ran up and hugged them and wished them condolences even though they only knew each other in passing. Very sweet and respectful gesture.
Also, my first exposure to MCR was my older brother listening to Bullets. That was when I was still only really listening to Hip Hop, but after hearing that, I started listening to Linkin Park. Then 2004 and three Cheers came around and MCR was the band that got me listening to more rock music.
I’m listening to Conventional Weapons in full right now for the first time since it was released, and there is some really incredible stuff in here. I think I would put it in my top 3 MCR releases at this point.
Yup, my first exposure to MCR was my friend showing me Headfirst For Halos then I saw a random video of them on Punkrockvids.com I can't believe this website still exists! Punkrockvids.com - download live punk bands videos, ipod videos, video interviews, emo, pop-punk, indie, hc
I don't think I would rank Weapons as an album, but I'm probably close to you if I did Three Cheers > Black Parade > Danger Days > Conventional > Bullets
I’m not totally sure, but I think mine would go... The Black Parade > Three Cheers > Conventional > Danger Days > Bullets
