I love those bsides. I got to see them play Heaven Help Us live, which is my favorite, and it was totally unexpected and is still a huge concert moment for me
I remember the first time I heard Heaven Help Us and I just listened to it on repeat on my phone for like three days lol. What a fucking song.
I would still like fight the Pope or something to get a Studio version of Stay/Someone Out There Loves You
I saw someone post this somewhere else: “Gerard should frankly be ashamed of Black Parade, if only for his stupid publicity stunt of shaving his emo fringe and claiming it was to relate to terminal illness patients for the theming of the album. I love MCR and Gerard but I've never understood how people invested in holding creators accountable for their actions just let that slide.” I never heard this criticism before, I didn’t know it was a thing.
Except the person is missing the part that they’re supposed to be characters as a part of the Black Parade, which ties into the concept and story of the record. People attached themselves to the “emo fringe” because the goth aespect became larger than Gerard. There’s nothing different between the stylistic choices of the band between eras. I think that crit is going a tad bit too far, but other people are more than free to draw their lines there.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt should frankly be ashamed of 50/50, if only for his stupid publicity stunt of shaving his hair and claiming it was to relate to a terminal illness patient for the plot of the movie. I love Seth Rogan and JGL but I've never understood how people invested in holding creators accountable for their actions just let that slide.
Danger Days hate is so weird to me... Like... If the songs were bad I would totally get it but they're good songs, Brent. And no one talks about #SINGItForJapan enough. I also think that aesthetic is 1000000× more interesting than the 3 cheers black clothes red ties thing. I want an anime of the Killjoys fighting the system in a retro-future desert wasteland.
Listened to Hesitant Alien for the first time in a long long long time. I didn’t care for it when it first came out so I stopped listening to it. I get it now though and it’s awesome.
Don't hate it but do feel the creative burnout comes through on the record. Still got some absolute bangers on it though.
I might go back to Hesitant Alien, now that the idea of wanting it to live up MCR's standards has faded.
I don't think they are bigger than any of the announced headliners but they could headline the second stage easily. Download is always a strange line-up for me, there are enough good bands over the three days for one good day, but never enough to justify a full weekend.
if you don't like "summertime" that's fine i guess, i'll just be over here thinking it's the best song ever made
