I remember ppl would give u a hard time about ur age so I had mine hidden for a long time. Tho it was futile cause I definitely seemed as dumb and young as I was ha
my first post was about how i thought the 5th track on the first two TWY albums were the weakest songs on those albums and I hoped that track 5 on TGG would be better than that. that somehow got misinterpreted as me saying all track 5s on every album are bad and boy oh boy did my inbox and quote notifications explode.
I didn't know there were forums until I saw people bashing those who only posted in news threads and then I discovered an entire world of sexist pretentious men who thought they were clever but were prob trying to overcompensate for their sad insecure flaws.
Lol yeah it was unfortunate, but I was young too and thought it was funny and edgy. But then I discovered feminism and stayed off the site for a while and then it got better but the toxicity I think was just too ingrained in the fabric of the site at that point so the move to Chorus was an A+ decision!
Speaking of sexist one of my favorite videos is when Gerard was getting heated about that one band who told girls if they flashed them theyd get free backstage passes and then he tells the girls in the audience if they ever have a guy say that to them to spit "right in their fucking face and yell FUCK YOU" god hes so dreamy
Tbh it prob speaks to how impressionable I was, but being younger and hearing Gerard speak out against women taking their tops off was really impactful to me. Like growing up with those male gazey 00s bro comedies and just general sexism kinda socialized me into thinking pleasing men or catering to them was important, and hearing an idol say something like that was powerful
Also throwin my age in, 27 as of a few days ago As for AP, I mostly posted in the news articles as well, and that was mostly near the end of the site. Had no idea battles brewed in the depths.
AP was pretty bad in the forums, it's why I refrained from posting. I think I actually remember Ken's post about the 5th track thing and man did that escalate in like 2 seconds flat
I posted in the forums about three times and every single time I would see people arguing and just being spiteful. There was very little actual discussion that went on in those forums. I stuck to the news posts. It's why I was initially hugely alarmed when that wasn't an option on this site, but it turns out that the change in both the site and the news posts was to be the best thing that ever happened in the history of AP/Chorus.
yep yep. the one that really got me was Dan from TWY. hearing him give this super impassioned speech about various topics ranging from racism, homophobia, sexism, government corruption, mental health, etc during a show in the Suburbia era really spoke to me as someone who was just about to graduate high school and still had a middle school mentality of saying homophobic slurs in a joking way, mocking feminism, etc. i was young and stupid and was trying to hide my own gender and sexuality struggles but when I heard Dan speak it was like someone finally turned a light on for me. I guess thats why I gravitate towards musicians like him, Gerard, Geoff Rickly, Laura Jane Grace, Tim Mcclrath, etc
That is awesome! It's why I love when musicians use their platform for good. I def remember being ignorant and thinking "that's so gay" was okay to say until Pete Wentz spoke about it. Growing up in a rural conservative area, I didn't even think to question some things until a musician I looked up to spoke about it.
MCR are my favorite band now AMA not rly but i mean shit theyve always been like top 10 or so so w/e same thing
Is it fair to think of Vampire Money as just a bonus track because it’s such a jarring end to DD that said it’s a really good song with a pretty funny story behind it. The other 2 DD bonus tracks are also jams
Definitely a "credits" type song to the album. Kids From Yesterday is the closer, Goodnight Dr Death is the epilogue and Vampire Money plays over the credits!
