I've been listening to so much MCR lately. Sorely missed. Also to any MCR fans in here that havent checked out Thursday I urge you to do so because theyre really tight and similar and are just THE BEST. Part of me really really wants to believe that Bullets, Three Cheers, and TBP are one long story but its so fuzzy idk if it could work.
didn't Gerard kinda sorta confirm Bullets and Three Cheers were envisioned with a connected story at some point in time? I swear i remember that
Sort of. The way I remember it, the love songs at the end of bullets (cubicles, this is the best day ever, demolition lovers, maybe early sunsets) are the same couple where one of them made a deal with the devil to kill 1,000 men in order to bring the other back to life, and then I Never Told You What I Do For a Living is about killing those men, and you can make a case that The Ghost of You is related as well.
I remember reading about it somewhere that Bullets is about a Bonnie and Clyde type couple, where the woman is gunned down by police in the desert in the end. Three Cheers is about the guy making a deal with the devil to kill 1,000 evil men in return for her resurrection and the various songs are the people he kills except for a few (ghost of you) where he feels the guilt and weight of his actions and never thinks he will finish. Finally in I Never Told You he finishes, they reunite in the desert but both are then gunned down by authorities because the man is wanted for the deaths of 1,000 people
Revenge was originally a concept album following on from Demolition Lovers but that's all I've come across from interviews with Gerard and I've seen/read a ton of them. I'm pretty sure TBP was completely self contained in terms of the bands intent. If you like reading into them as one long story though that's super cool as well. Ben Gibbard has denied the concept album rumours about We Have the Facts a bunch and I still listen to that album as one, ha.
One idea I had which could incorporate all of MCRs albums was that the protagonists after Bullets are reincarnations of the original man in Bullets. Idk it’s a stretch but given how much Gerard likes to reference themes and such throughout their work it could have potential. Hope MCR reunites and tours with Thursday
MCR and Cursive make really really good halloween music. Got that gothic, macabre horror themed songwriting just with different approaches. @SpyKi idk if ive asked you this but are you a fan of Cursive or Thursday? Just seems like theyd be in your wheelhouse if not
Gerard Way and Geoff Rickly Reflect on the Intertwined History of My Chemical Romance and Thursday obligatory link to one of my favorite interviews between two of my favorite frontpersons in music
every time someone mentions Thursday or Cursive an angel gets their wings and it's also pretty much the same as tagging me
A veritable dream tour for me, I would travel nearly anywhere for that, esp if MCR was on the bill too
I mean Thursday are prob gonna put something out 2018 or 19 is my guess. But I'd do what I said I'd do if I could get one in 2017 lmao.
Why'd they cancel? One of the times I saw Thursday they said last time they were at the venue the band played while Geoff threw up in the bathroom with the flu and the audience sang the songs so I imagine it was p serious
I don't remember tbh. It was like a decade ago or longer. unless I made this memory up. Which is possible lmao but I feel like I didn't? Now I'm questioning myself ha
wow, i wish i could've seen both those bands back then, but a decade ago i was 11. perspective is wild
Same boat. My chem was doing arenas when I was 11 and they were my favorite band but no way could I come up with the dough for a ticket as a preteen. I remember trying really hard to win Projekt Rev tickets in 07.
