I remember listening to all of the samples/clips on RealPlayer. I then walked several miles to the store to buy the album on release day. I had that CD in my Walkman on every walk to school until Summer break.
Damn. I got into MXPX right around the time The Ever Passing Moment came out. That album was one of the CDs I got through BMG’s CD club (along with Slowly Going the Way) that I scammed.
I may have said this before, but I learned about mxpx because a kid I sat next to in my 8th grad Le computer class had written on his green binder in sharpie “mxpx is the coolest!”
I love Self Titled and Find a Way Home, but the best thing they’ve done in the last few years is “Kan’t Keep Waiting”. I love that song and think is one of the best they’ve ever written.
This is amazing! I became lifelong friends with someone because I had MxPx written in whiteout on my pencil case in 9th grade. Been almost 25 years since.
The Road Less Traveled You Hold The Key Was missing these two but found them on Fat Wreck's WRECKTROSPECTIVE release.
Went to the in-store they did in Seattle for the release of Panic. They performed tracks 1-6, and then ended with Call In Sick, which Mike dedicated to his wife, who was there as well. Fun memory.
I think Panic is one of my most loved albums with terrible artworks. “Heard that Sound” should’ve been BIG.
Up there with appeal to reason - with the same style that I just don't like. And "The Story" ... that song is like perfect pop-punk.
I struggled a bit with Panic at first because I really liked how polished they sounded on BEAA, but quickly realized they purposely chose to go the polar opposite direction, production-wise…and it clicked. Great songs. Even the two bonus tracks were solid.
