Hitting snooze on all MXPX vinyl releases until they repress Slowly Going The Way of the Buffalo (and not in one of those boxset shenanigans either)
Yeah. The boxset was cool but I was bummed I couldn't just buy copies of The Ever Passing Moment and Before Everything and After separately
This band has been a big part of my life for a good 25 years. I snagged a box set last year. I don't care much for live albums but I was really into Live At The Show back in the day, and after giving this a go on Spotify I had to grab one!
...they were able to repress it for the boxset? I don't know the details about ownership, but I do question how they could circumvent those complications for the boxset and not a solo pressing.
A box set and single album pressings are different. They may have only gotten permission for just a boxset. Contacts and licensing can be crazy. But who knows.
I just see the original pressing and the test pressing from 2021. If they are listing those records under the original, they're still going for $120 which is too steep for me.
I’ve seen them but maybe they come and go…or maybe the listing got merged. Discogs can be a nightmare. But they didn’t go for that much. But it’s worth keeping any eye on original pressings. I snagged an OP the Everpassing Moment for $65 a few years back. Not too bad.
And yeah, $120 is a lot for an original. That’s why the boxset made sense for me. I needed Buffalo, Pokinatcha and Before Everything And After (never previously pressed). So the boxset price was a better deal than what OPs go for. It’s all in how much you want something and what you’re willing to spend!
They were able to license them to make the box set. I do know that boxset extras got sold via their webstore last Black Friday. By extras I mean single album extras.
Why would there have even been extras if they were pressing a specific number of box sets and no individual presses?
They always press extras in case there’s any issues and people need a copy replaced. My sleeves were a mess so I had to reach out and they replaced them. Because they made extras! And once everything dies down, then they sell off some of the extras since they’re just sitting there.
What was wrong with your sleeves? Some of mine I think were just kinda not glued enough and are splitting pretty easily but I got the set just to listen to I’m not terribly upset and could probably readhere them if I needed
Most of the cornea were with split or bent. And not just minor. Full corners looked pretty jacked. And sometimes I’m cool with that but six or seven had major issues. And it’s such a special product that I wanted it to be as good as i knew it could be. So I thought it was worth reaching out. And they took care of it and we’re amazing about all of it!
