I hope it isn't the end but at the same time I can't really imagine them going on w/o Roy and Darren. Mutemath has always been about all of them to me.
This is gonna be a bittersweet listen for sure but I'm still really excited for it... Not sure how I'd feel about the band continuing after the end of their touring commitments, but I support whatever decision they end up making.
Really good interview - not because it explains why everything happened with Darren (it doesn't), but because Paul really seems to be in a good headspace about it. It has me even more excited for the album, too: "The main message is about life after death-that is what this whole album is about-in the face of decomposition and facing the end of some chapter, and even from literal life/death, or the death of certain eras of our lives."
It's everything you'd want in a Mutemath album. Lots of classic sounding stuff and lots of new sounding stuff. I really like it after just one listen
Break the Fever and Achilles Heel are early standouts for me (plus Hit Parade -- that song is still incredible)
I have a ticket to the Cleveland show, decided not to go anymore, but after hearing the album I'll go to it. Really like the album just sad to know this may be it.
Why is everyone acting like they're done because Darren left? From what I hear their new drummer is a solid replacement, maybe he'll join them full time. Some bands continue on even when band members die, I think Mutemath will be fine. Also Break the Fever is the groovy cousin to Stratosphere.
