Yeah I was gonna do Fluxy before I had to pivot to a lesser choice.

  7. Just went to have a look at that “gauntlet” league the one guy in this one started and (I assume) invited us all to a few weeks back. Wild stuff happening over there lol. The person in last place has -62 points. The winning song in a recent round won with -5

I played for 3-4 rounds of that one and had to quit. So many messages and honestly just overall not my music scene from what was being submitted

I'm still in it. The chat there is a little annoying, but I mostly ignore it.

The points aspect is weird, but interesting. This current round has a lot of downvotes and only 5 of the 18 submissions are in the positives with 1 voter to go.

Here's a bonus deep cut from The Get Up Kids that wasn't on Spotify if anyone is interested. From the Rock Against Bush Vol. 1 comp.

That comp has some really great stuff, they should have done a Rock Against Trump comp or twelve

  13. Expected The Maine would not do well (hence the long write up to sell it lol), but with their debut record not releasing til 2008, I very much see them as a next gen band. The prompt (“an artist that has existed primarily post 2010ish”) also meant to me that we should have been selecting bands that were coming up before or right near 2010, then continued to have a longer career

Definitley woulda gone with an I Promised The World or Koyo type of artist had I known post 2020 stuff was on the table

Everyone can interpret prompts the way they want of course, but that's definitely not how I meat it to come across haha. The way we talk, can't stop won't stop and black and white all coming out in 00-10 definitely disqualified them for me. They're in the same boat as All Time Low or The Dangerous Summer for me

  15. Oh yeah for sure, there’s not always a “right” way to interpret the round. I was mostly just surprised to have differed so hard from others. I view stuff like The Paradox and Anxious as multiple waves removed. Bands coming up in the 2008-ish era like The Maine, Metro Station, The Cab, Hey Monday, etc are the real follow up to the Fall Out Boys, Panics, and AARs imo

Also understand that many of the downvotes are from folks who just don’t like them haha. The Wonder Years are an even older band than The Maine and did just fine

Yeah I'm bet if I liked them more I'd be more forgiving haha. TWY basically started with the upsides in my mind, 2010, so they feel post 00s to me much more. Also I'm aware that's just a personal mental thing too

any way to tell who submitted a song first when there are two submissions for the same band?

  20. I submitted the duplicate. Honestly expected more since this is probably the round with the smallest pool of really solid picks since somewhere near the start of the league

Anyway I had a very busy weekend best manning a wedding and hosting family/friends in town, and didn’t submit til Sunday. After three orange boxes I decided to just send one of them. There were a few other artists on my shortlist but I don’t like submitting artists that I don’t actually back

lol pretty sure you got my upvotes judging by the write ups !

  22. Also, and I said this in my comment on the other song, a few rounds ago I was the first to submit an artist that was duplicated multiple times, and found out because I edited a typo in my caption. I then added in the caption that I was the first to submit the artist, and still lost to the duplicates lol. Done my best to not duplicate artists ever since the chat was going off about it back towards the start, but after that, I can’t really find it in me to care haha

I did not (like I said… didn’t really have a lot of time haha), but sincerely, it is okay! Mostly just wanted to say something since the dupes thing has come up both in here and in the chat!

  24. Yeah this is the trick to seeing if someone else submitted the same artist after you. If you're concerned about it you can go in and resubmit your song at any point and see if you get the orange box.

To Trevor's point though, not much you can do about it at that point. Updating your comment to call it out doesn't necessarily help. If you have a really good alt you could change your song, but you shouldn't have to if you submitted first!

Autopilot Off were on my shortlist. I didn't even consider Name Taken, I forgot that HYBYKHL wasn't an official release.

I had a few others I considered too: Denver Harbor, Pistolita, and Search/Rescue -
