All I could think about when hearing "Year 3000" -

 

Same!!! I'm not familiar with early jobros but very familiar with Conan

 

i’m surprised at how many of these songs i’ve never heard. and dear god a lot of them are AWFUL

 

It's obviously the nature of the prompt on purpose, but yes at least half of the playlist is terrible haha

Late to respond here but I try to balance out sharing something new/cool, hyping something I love, etc. But I also usually shoot for something that might get some points.

But really, if I have a hot pick and it lands me down near the bottom... And at least one person is like "Yo, this is awesome! I've never heard this before!" then it's a win in my book.

Which is a good thing because I'm pretty sure I'll be tanking it in this League just because my definition of "the scene" is just a bit left-of-center compared to folks in here. It's been super fun thus far, though!

 

Having downvotes is brutal haha, the person who got last place last week just quit, I think that's like... 5(?) users who have quit now after getting last place and negative points in a round

 

There’s one obvious downvote in this round, and I’m not even talking about THAT band (not sure what to do with that one).

 

Just for the record I didn’t drop out (again) because of downvotes or my position haha

 

That’s on them, pick better songs

 

Or at least give a description/argument for the song, it's baffling to submit something like that without explaining it

 

The lack of write-ups has been a little perplexing to me.

 

There's a lot of heavy hitter picks - if you go in soft you're gonna get downvoted!

 

it's also just less fun to see a submission with nothing written behind it

 

On a lighter note the playlist this week is really f'n good - some tough decisions to make!

 

Agreed!! There were multiple songs that I didn't vote for simply because I gave my points to slightly stronger picks. I try to at least write a little something when I don't give points to a good pick though

 

I like 15 points, making actual choices is more fun

 

Sometimes I submit a song to get the pick in with the intention of going back and writing a description later, but then I forget or the playlist goes live earlier than I anticipated and I don't have a chance.

 

For this league, FYI, I now have it set that the playlist goes live, and the rounds start, exactly on the scheduled time, so nothing will come early anymore

 

Good to know! Especially when the playlists go live on the weekend I'm busy with kid/family stuff and it often slips right by.

 

totally get it! it's been the same for me, so during the week I have been trying to basically decide on my top pick for the next round, and a few backups, so I can get it in on Friday and forget about it for the rest of the weekend haa

 

My shortlist for the next round is down to 12 songs.....

 

Really shocked to not see a Misfits cover in this round

 

I can't believe my pick for the side project round was still there... Fully expected to not have Still Fly be a popular pick last round, but couldn't help myself!

 

I'm very interested to see which side projects show up, o had a pretty long mental list of possibilities, but I'm very content with the one I ended up going with
