Well that'll do it too! For reference Celine Dion's 'It's All Coming Back to Me Now' is having a TikTok renaissance
Really don't like how the TikToks only last about 15 seconds and abruptly cut off at an awkward point in the song. That's the most climatic moment of the song and ending it halfway just makes me want to go listen to the actual song, not watch more TikToks
I completely 100% agree, I don't use TikTok either, but I heard about this recently so I was guessing
So I’ve watched a few Netflix trash tv reality shows and they’re soundtracked by generic pop music. I’ve looked up some of the music on Spotify and none of the artists have a lot of listeners. Are these artist making generic pop just for Netflix or is Netflix finding some tiny-ass pop artists that they don’t have pay too much? I tried googling this but didn’t get any answers. I’m not sure I was using good search terms. I know this isn’t really the type of artists or scene that this forum talks about normally but was just curious.
It’s a bit of both. MTV reality shows are similar. Reality shows aren’t typically given large budgets for song placements so they find less popular artists that evoke similar vibes for less money. At the same time, sync deals are one of the more lucrative avenues for musicians right now. plenty of producers and musicians have projects specifically intended to be placed in commercials, TV shows, sporting events, etc.
Gotta be songs that are specifically made to play in stores too right? I always hear generic pop songs in stores that I have never heard before in my life, and the same ones play in different stores
Not sure how that works to be honest. I know a lot of stores/restaurants/etc hire people/companies to curate their soundtracks though. There was a piece on 20/20 or Dateline about the company that works with Chipotle a few years ago
I stared at it for over a minute before I realized that most Twitter jokes are over my head and gave up.... little help?
Not sure where to post this but it’s a fun little thing to do. A few people are doing it and we are currently on: Everyday they give you a new album and you can chat about it and make comments. https://1001albumsgenerator.com/
I dig it - your post insinuates everyone gets the same album each day ... when i signed up it gave me LCD Soundsystem "sound of silver". Is that right?
EST , US. I think I figured it out it says they update it at 12AM GMT, which makes sense that would've been after your post and before mine lol. Im in for this !
