people that have listened to hundreds of releases every year blow my mind.

like, for me i think i could do it, but i just feel like it would get really hard for me to fall in love with a lot of records because to listen to that much new music, repeat listens for albums are going down drastically.

Yeah, I tend to find a few albums each month I really love and then continually return to them. I seem to reach a point of over-saturation where I'm not able to retain much from the music if I'm trying to consume too much of it, so I'm actually better able to enjoy the albums I truly do love when I'm not scrambling to listen to 8 different things each week.

    The rivalry is back on

I have a job where I can multi-task and half-listen to music for probably 25-30 hours/week, so I became one of those power listeners by necessity. Most things I listen to, I'll listen to once (if that), but then I'll spend plenty of time with the few albums I really like per month both at work and outside of work.

Aphasia is probably one of my songs of the year so far. Such a great album.

    Evolution not revolution

Just listened to Ocean Colour Scene live at the Isle of Wight. It's been about 20 years since they released Mosley Shores and they played a good chunk of it ending with the sublime "Day we Caught the train!"

    A foolish wanderer

I used to grind out ten or fifteen new album listens per week, to review, but I couldn't appreciate them half the same as if I were listening to one new album over a longer period of time.

Even with my expanded listening time from my job I still can't manage that much listening. I get through maybe five a day or so, and that's counting the fact if it's new I often give it two listens.

I used to be that way - it definitely took a long, long time of transitioning myself to get used to listening to full or near-full albums at one time. I'm kind of proud of it in retrospect since I also have an awful attention span.

    Songwriting and Home Recording Thread

Just opening that up to people not in those threads. Looking for feedback on an EP my band put out earlier this year. Particularly feedback from a listeners perspective like what it made you feel, what worked/what didn't, stuff like that. If anyone is willing to give the record a few listens and help me figure out how to push our art forward for next time, that'd be super awesome.

  24. This is completely random but I find it hilarious that the Smashing Pumpkins' picture on Apple Music is literally just a portrait of Billy Corgan.

Really loving the new Touche Amore song. Might be my favorite song they've ever released. Next to "~"
