I think we can all agree that Muse and Mumford being the Jordan Peterson libertarian bands is hilarious and on brand
theyve always had silly conspiracy theory lyrics in some of their songs but this is just the worst and i think i'm finally ready to give them up
it was there as far back as Black Holes but at least those songs slapped imo, this is irredeemable dogshit
lolloolllolool Along with the announcement is their powerful new single “Compliance,” released with an accompanying music video. With the song exemplifying what it’s like to be seduced by authoritarian rule, the video brings that story to life as it follows three children wearing masks destroying their future selves in order to escape a dystopian and oppressive world.
"This album is a personal navigation through those fears" okay fine, could be interesting "and preparation for what comes next" hmmmm.. "We Are Fucking Fucked" oh
I don’t think they’re saying that phrase in a positive context given the rest of their statement lol. I’m not a big fan of this song either but y’all are reading way too hard into them supposedly being alt right or whatever… I know Matt was big into conspiracy theories at one point but I’m pretty sure in recent years he’s been openly left-wing on a lot of issues. Plenty of reason to dislike this song for being mediocre without having to invent other reasons to do so
I mean yeah… religion is bullshit and social media spreads a lot of disinformation. Apparently stating those obvious truths makes them alt right because… reasons?? I just think their political messaging is lazy and heavy-handed tbh but I wouldn’t say it’s “toxic”… just generic platitudes like a lot of big artists when they try to get political.
Who do you guys think they’re talking about with “an attempted insurrection” and “rising authoritarianism”… I know a certain US politician I think they’re taking a swipe at and it ain’t Joe Biden lol
