Editing for their new album info. MURDER BY DEATH'S NEW ALBUM "THE OTHER SHORE" Doing another cave show that I'm tempted to attend.

I love this band's 1st 2 albums when they were doing prog, and the all-instrumental Finch soundtrack. But the Johnny Cash vocals have never worked for me.
How friccen sick is it ? Standout tracks ? Cello shredding? Any Spooky vibes ? Spooky MBD is my favorite
I've only listened twice, but that's an ourageously high bar! Haha It's sick! I love the opening and closing tracks, "Space" and "Bloom" make for an excellent one-two punch, and there's some wonderful synth stuff on "New Old City" they've never tried before. It's pretty organic-sounding, overall. Definitely some cello shredding, and maybe not spooky MBD, per say, but classic MBD vibes for sure (among a mixture of styles from their last three records).
In bocca Al Lupo and red of tooth and claw are their high points for me (fairly meh on everything since, but still go back to those). Where does it stack against those 2 and the rest of their catalog?
I wont be prepared to rank it until I sit with it a little longer, but it's a good record that gets better with each listen. I might like it better than Big Dark Love, and I love that record. Again, Red of Tooth and Claw is a high bar to clear, but I would say sonically, it's much more comparable to In Bocca Al Lupo. This album combines the aesthetic of their early work with the organic instrumentation of IBAL/Good Morning, Magpie and the melodicism of BDL.
Looks like I'm going to be interviewing the band next week and would love to ask any questions you all might have! Feel free to quote or PM me!
