When bands like Mumford and Of Monsters and Men were blowing up I was sure someone was going to take a chance on them. Not saying they sound similar really...but I think they could have fit in on a bill with bands like that - especially when they moved away from the concept albums. Excited to dive in to this today.
I agree. My friend introduced me to them shortly after Who Will Survive... hit. I think they were still on Eyeball then and he was a massive MCR fan at the time. I've been in love ever since. I'm glad they have such a strong and passionate following who will fund anything they want to do, but it does bum me out a little that they never blew up. Maybe it's for the best. I kinda like being part of the niche.
The market is saturated for music. They are ‘different’, and most people fear different. They definitely have a more cinematic score feeling to their music than falling back on pop cliches. I’m glad they make it work because it’s fun to throw on their records every one an while and go on a different journey.
Went to the cave show the other day, it’s my new favorite show of all time, and I’ve been to a ton. Just an immaculate vibe.
Yeah, that's in the IG post carousel as well. I've fallen off their wagon over the years but I've always enjoyed a MBD show. Supported them through the different funding efforts they've done. Wanted to get out to the Stanley shows but have never been able to make it work. This will be an excellent sendoff.
The drop after red of tooth and claw is large but the first first few albums leading up to it are fantastic. Bummed to see them go even if I fell off along the way.
Never got to see them, unlikely I will now that I have a newborn coming in a couple of weeks. They will be missed. Those first four albums are special.
Going to Toronto, and hopefully another cave show down the line sometime. Top 5 concert experience ever.
I wasn't crazy about Spell/Bound, but I really dig Other Shore. I've gotten to see them a bunch of times, including once in a rickety barn. Definitely some of my favorite concert experiences. This will be a bittersweet show, but no way am I missing it.
I played (and sang) MBD for my fussy ass 3 week old this morning and it calmed her down. They’re the best band
