I went on a murder by death kick the last few days, so the announcement has me thrilled. My favorite band ever. Definitely the most consistent band doing it today.

 

Pretty stoked for the comic book thingy too.

 

They got JH Williams to work on it which is just insane to me. He is responsible for some of my favorite art ever.

I’m always pretty stunned by how much $ their kickstarters make despite no one knowing who the eff they are

definition of small dedicated fanbase

 

The one time I saw them live the venue was absolutely packed. Not sure where all of their fans are hiding, but they're definitely out there.

 

It’s very impressive. Album after album. As a fringe MDB fan, I wish other bands could use this idea as a potential model.

Just received a download code for this! Apparently the SSE vinyl for backers of their pandemic kickstarter is delayed a few days. They sent a bandcamp download code as a make good. Listening now!

 

I was hoping the vinyl would come today. I won't be around tomorrow and I don't want it to melt

 

Got my record yesterday. Playing it now for the first time. I really dig this so far.

Edit: Yep, it's a Murder By Death album. I already like this more than their last one.

 

Only a few tracks in so far, but Riders is an early stand-out. Fucking love broody western MBD.

Yeah...album is really damn good after first listen. It instantly captured me and feels like a delicate blend of old and modern MBD. Riders to Incantation to When hit me like a ton of bricks. So good. I was bummed at first that it was only 9 tracks. But I think lean and mean is a smart approach for how heavy and brooding and almost plodding this album feels.

Just got my special addition. Lots of fun stuff. Can't wait to crack open the comic, listening to the album.

 

Yea it’s a super solid album, but tracks 5-9 are so much better the the first few for me. I just kinda have those on repeat.

 

This band is super weird and niche and they've done a real great job carving out their fanbase and keeping them happy. Cool record on first listen. I always have this imagery of the first season of Westworld now when I listen to them.

 

It kind of bums me out that they never broke out. I've been on board since Who Will Survive... and constantly recommend them to people. I think the first thing my roommate and I bonded over was them tho, so that was amazing.

Really wish their features in Sons of Anarchy or Destiny made them stars. Glad they are happy with their position.
