I can probably count on one hand how many POC pop punk bands, or more specifically POC pop punk bands with women in them, get to be on high profile tours like MM@TA is, and it really sucks that when it does happen people say shit like they’re being “inauthentic” and “seem contrived”. I rarely hear such complaints about the many white dude bands and artists who open a lot of the pop punk tours happening these days…
I’m just curious how the MUNA fandom reacted to them haha, weird pairing but I’m so pumped to have my face melted off two different ways haha
I can’t speak for others obviously but I can assure you I have complained plenty about them (the others you speak of)as well. I think both things can be true and I’d agree it is a shame. But Trust me - if I enjoyed one ounce of their performance I’d support them - and that’s all it comes down to for me.
Some were def into it and some were talking/yawning in the back. The same for most openers. It was a bit of a jarring mix with the exception of plain fact they were female bands.
Never heard of Meet Me @ The Altar before so checked them out and they sound fun! Really like the singers voice.
maybe I'm extremely pop-punk pilled from being in the Jason Tate Cinematic Universe for what feels like 2 decades, but I don't see how anyone could dislike them lol
Well to be fair I have not listened to the record(s)? This was my first time seeing or hearing them - maybe they are just a good studio band, then.
I mean, to be fair - what incentive do I have to try out a new pop punk band that I didn’t enjoy live? Usually openers win me over or entice me. I’m not going to run home and Spotify a band I didn’t enjoy. Like I said, perhaps it’s all studio jazz.
the vocal performances on this EP are out of this world who's singing Phoebe's part on Silk Chiffon? Doesn't super sound like Katie to me.
