What I Want will absolutely be on repeat when I’m in Provincetown in a few weeks and I won’t apologize
What I Want really embodies the queer experience of missing out on so many formative years of your life, only to live them on your own terms after previously not being able to do so. don't know of many other songs that speak to this feeling, but i'm sure as hell grateful for this one.
Yeah, I was just coming here to say that was the one for me. Absolutely love this overall though, on my third listen today.
Man, this thing RULES! I was never a huge fan, but saw them live in a couple opening slots. They sound like a headliner on this album, for sure.
definitely another step forward for them, completely delivers. Only complaint is I wish there was one more faster tempo synthpop song on the back half of the record, but the tone cooling off a little bit is probably intentional. The first three tracks are an all time pop run.
Good singles choices (including "What I Want" as the release day focus track), as they're mostly all my favorite songs. I was expecting a bit more front-to-back bangers from the way the album was described, but it's pretty much half and half. "Handle Me" reminds me of like an Enya song, and that's really cool. I'd need to be in a very specific mood for that bass drop in "Runner's High" to not feel a little chintzy for me. Ultimately I think MUNA SAVES THE WORLD is a better album for my specific sensibilities, but I'll be rocking this all summer and it's got a number of great starmaking songs.
