I'm cautiously optimistic about this, even if I kinda grew out of this whole fake indie folk music they brought to the mainstream. But I'm glad the Pharrell-produced single isn't on the album. That was horrendous.
This is the most I’ve liked a Mumford album since Babel. Truth is really cool and different for them while still feeling familiar, Rushmere sounds like peak Mumford and Sons, and there’s a few others that I vibe with. Idk if it’s gonna be in constant rotation, but I’m glad this exists and there’s a few gems
I’m also amused that the Mumford and Sons date near me has Japanese Breakfast on it — that is not a touring combo I would have expected
Just made my first listen and it's fine. It's relaxed, focused, well-executed and wonderfully produced but most of it sounds like leftovers from Marcus' self-titled record.
Interesting album, not wildly exciting or adventurous, but nice background music and it's "bad" by any means
Cant say im a big fan of this album. I liked a couple songs but most of the album is sleepy. I wish they'd make another album that sounds like Wilder Mind.
Oof, this debuted at #19 with 27k album equivalents. For comparison, their last 3 albums debuted at #1.
This is the first time I’ve listened to a Mumford & Sons album since their debut… actually quite enjoyed it for what it is. I was surprised by the first song which was a lot more spiritual in content than I was expecting. Probably my immediate highlight but still digesting the rest of it.
Fine show. I never listen to their records unless my wife has them on, but I really do think the Wilder Mind songs pop the best live
Although I love Delta (not Rushmere so much), I really wish they had kept going in the rockier direction of Wilder Mind. The Wolf is one of their best songs ever
I didn’t really like Wilder Mind when it came out (besides Believe, which I think is one of their best songs), but I revisited it earlier this year and liked it a lot more in retrospect now that it’s better separated from the critical panning of this band circa the mid-10s and from the initial shock of them dropping the pop-bluegrass sound
apparently they've been playing two new songs live, and Marcus Mumford said one of them would be coming out in a week... Rushmere was a bit underwhelming but had a few good songs. Curious to hear more, especially because the live videos sounded good for both.
oh nice - I only saw videos of "Run Together" & "A Conversation With My Son, Gangsters, and Angels" which is a great name for a song
