Surprising for one of their adaptations. Although, all Marvel and Pirates movies are PG-13, so maybe Disney doesn't feel as much pressure with ratings anymore?
Between the director and the comments from the lead actress, the biggest turn away from this film is that the people involved won’t keep their thoughts to themselves.
Tickets are on sale now for anyone who still cares to see this. It's amazing how much my hype has been tossed since last summer. I was looking forward to this film for a few years and now it's just an...eh. Maybe? Eventually? If I get a discount?
I still think it looks really good/better than the previous Disney live adaptations. All the dumb stuff people involved with the movie have been saying definitely kills a lot of the initial excitement I had, though.
The only thing pulling me to watch this in theaters is because Doua Moua is in it and I want to support him and other Hmong actors that Hollywood rarely allows to catch a break.
Oh, word. There's a Hmong family in my church I'm friends with. The one cool person, shameless plug (while we're talking supporting Hmong people), has a small business that sells Hmong handiwork to both support people in Asia & connect people here in Aliquippa, PA to other cultures.
Nice plug. I know some people in a local Hmong community that are definitely into into buying crafts for that cause, especially around Hmong New Year, so I’ll give some of them the link.
It looks like this film is being delayed indefinitely in China. I know Disney was betting on the country to give this film some serous bank.
