I wonder how many people are going to try the "mind awake, body asleep" thing as they go to sleep tonight.
I thought it was awesome. Next week's episode is guaranteed to be bonkers. Oh and I'm pretty sure I have no idea what's going on.
did i miss any other back to the future references/nods? We had the obvious Earth Angel and we had "night train" (the song that plays at the dance during BTTF)...but now i feel like there may have been others. you don't end with Earth Angel, SPECIFICALLY WITH THE BTTF ENDING to the song. i mean who knows, maybe Sami was just doing it for shits. i fucking love this show so much!!!! WHAT AN EPISODE!!!! I LOVE MIND FUCK ROOMS IN "SCI-FI" TYPE SHOWSS!!!
Pretty sure that THIS Tyrell isn't real. He was. But now he's dead and has become another thing for Elliot to imagine.
With Angela in van in the beginning, the radio was also playing The Ballad of Davy Crockett (which was played when Marty first entered the diner) and I could have swore but not 100% sure but I thought I heard Heaven is One Step Away (which played on Marty's radio when he wakes up in his room at the end of the movie) is played on the taxi's radio
I didn't re-watch Season 1 prior to the start of the second season so its finale isn't fresh in my mind but what made Elliot convinced Tywell is dead? I only remember Elliot awakening after the 5/9 hack and Tywell just went missing.
Mr. Robot told Elliot that Tyrell was dead this season. The episode is escaping me at the moment Edit - Maybe he only says he shot him. I'm still waking up
Yea, not sure if the word 'dead' was used, just 'i shot him'. But 'Tyrell' was acting too bizarre for it to be really him IMO. Standing in the middle of the street in no disguise? When the entire world is out to get him?
It was just "I shot him". And holy shit: Angela wasn't just in the black SUV, she was acting like Joanna when she went to the lawyer's house. courtesy of reddit
Reddit also thinks Elliot and Angela have mind control devices implanted in them, which is way too far fetched even for this show. I mean, if there's a big sci fi twist I guess I'm the idiot, but I think this show is staying based in reality.
Mind control? What? Haha I've been avoiding all theories but no way. There's been no indication of Sci fi in this show.
I'm still enjoying this show thoroughly but the fact that they wasted an entire season without using its best character (Tyrell) is such a bummer. It seems like this season was specifically made for binge-watching. I could understand leaving Tyrell out this long if you think people are going to watch the entire season in 2 or 3 sittings, but we've been waiting 11 weeks.
Yeah, I'm worried with all the Back to the Future stuff that it's gonna take a huge sci-fi turn, but I don't think it's out of the question that Angela is going to develop similar mental issues to Elliot's
Unless the finale is really good, I think I'm about done with this show. It is beginning to exceed Lost in terms of opacity for its own sake and to the point of being aimless.
I forgot which review I read this morning, maybe Variety, but final sentence was 'either next week's episode will feature either the greatest shark jump in tv history or a twist that'll make this show even more epic, either way it won't be bland." I'm paraphrasing a bit, but the review said the entire season has been hinting at some things that are going to make the twist pretty far-fetched (i.e. time travel, alternate realities, mind control, dreams, etc).
Scene with Dom & Alexa was great. A lot of the rest felt dragged out and indulgent, which I don't mind personally for this show. Definitely felt like a "calm before the storm" episode.
So why was Mr Robot digging around for those codes? If Tyrell wasn't real in that episode, does that mean Elliot left the codes for himself? Maybe he had them written down for when phase two was ready to begin? And regarding phase 2, Tyrell said something along the lines of "everything has gone perfect" regarding the buildup in this season. Does that imply that White Rose has been playing the E-Corp guy all along even though they've made it seem the other way?
I think they gave away Tyrell not being real in the preview for the next episode. There was a shot with Tyrell and Mr Robot standing beside each other and behind Elliot. They were all standing and looking straight at the camera.
