Yeah, that's true. I think more for me it's that they didn't always operate in the wheelhouse they currently do. Used to listen to them in the early 2000's but didn't really follow them much going forward. Seeing them with the Sounds of Animals Fighting a few years back and hearing how they evolved kinda blew my mind haha.
I genuinely love all those bands mentioned here, Owel's new record was one of my favorites in November (wouldn't make a strong MovMou comparison though, it's closer to sound like older Copeland or something, plus it is pretty theatrical), and Gates might be close to my AOTY : ) I'm glad Athletics made some new music too, but I'd love to hear Greg singing again! I like his production work as well so I'm waiting for that new Dryjacket album!
I can't believe the s/t record came out four years ago. I'm so thankful we got two tracks last year at least.
Would love for Greg to do more production work. His work with MovMou and Prawn sound great so I'll be sure to check out that Dryjacket album. Dryjacket have one song streaming on their bandcamp from the new album which comes out next month actually. It's pretty solid
Culpa was a jake band they were my most seen live band for a minute then others surpassed after they broke up
Deathless and Abby Normal are the best songs they've ever made, and honestly, I think they are two of the best songs ever made, period. so it really be a shame if they quit now.
I still spin that Dryjacket album, it's awesome! ..And for MovMou to call it quits - well they kinda already did, I was so glad we even had that split with Prawn at all. If anything more comes out, I'll be really happy!
