I like Prawn a lot so idk how much this means to you, but their half of the split are their best songs period imo. Pretty different sonically from the majority of their stuff too. I'd recommend at least giving it a shot.
I like Prawn and I didn't care for their songs on the split. Definitely check out Mov Mou's songs on there though.
You could definitely listen to just MovMou's side and be satisfied. I like listening to both sides, even if I'm not much of a Prawn fan, because I adore how both sides compliment each other so well. It sounds less like a split and more like a collaboration.
The MovMou songs are great too, but I personally don't like them more than anything on the s/t. They're a lot more straightforward in structure, and one of the things I love so much about the songs on s/t is the ride they take you on rather than kinda just putting you through the motions. The split songs are beautiful and well written, absolutely, but neither of them have excited me the way the s/t songs did from the first listen until now. There's more that goes into that opinion but I think that's most concise way I can put it. The whole split is worth checking out.
I prefer Abby normal actually Has anyone heard the ansible versions of either of those songs, by the way?
Why would the length of a song dictate how straightforward the overall structure is? The song is pretty clearly intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge. I think it's a great song that came out beautifully. Not sitting here saying its some cookie-cutter BS or anything haha. That song just doesn't take me on the same ride as songs like Seasonal, Eastern Leaves, Hands, Apsides, etc. and therefore doesn't doesn't do quite as much for me.
