It's a masterpiece, I stand by that lol. I mean, I think it is a beautifully crafted piece of art that I'm impressed by every time I listen to it... To me, that record is MovMou mastering their sound. So yes, masterpiece is a word I'd use, what of it.
ffs I thought we got over taking this thread seriously when ap died. many a moment we're wasted talking about how shit waves was or how overrated s/t was or whatever. the arguments been done a million times, no need to get up in arms. there is literally no need for anyone to quantify their post with imo, every post is an opinion
Self titled is a fucking masterpiece. I don't trust anyone who says otherwise. Like even if you don't love it, how is at not, at least, beautiful / spiritual / moving to your ears assuming you're in this thread because you like something the band has released previously. And the self titled and the split mesh so, so well together. It's basically "DLC" for the self titled, haha.
Just listened to the split again for the first time in a while, still floors me. Willing to say that if that was a full length it'd not only be better than the s/t, but one of the probably five best albums I've heard. Those two songs are literally perfect songs
New Light was definitely a sign of changes to come :) I like it too, pretty much everything MovMou is a masterpiece to me, yes, precisely.
Woke up this morning with "Swing Set" stuck in my head and decided to jam the self-titled which led right into their tracks from the split with Prawn. I forgot what jams the outros of "Seasonal" and "Hudson" are. You can definitely feel the Thrice influence on "Hudson". And the only thing that would make the album better would be if it was 12 tracks and included "Stones", "Abby Normal", and "Deathless".
Stones is really good. Kinda anthemic for them, or at least it's got a very driving, pulsating beat that not much else of their music has. It's pretty unique to me.
Lol. Almost spit out my coffee. Stahp it. It really is. Only in this case it's more like comparing Neverwinter Nights 2 to Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer. The latter is about a hundred times better than the former.
"Stones" is awesome too, I didn't listen to it as often, but it's on the same level I guess, not sure why it wasn't included.
I'd say "Stones" would fit on that LP perfectly, but maybe they had some problems with it, like with sequencing, or it might have some resemblence to other tracks that were already picked for the tracklist.
It's not really "samey" but I guess it's not going to be far-fetched to say: Heads up MovMou/gates etc. fans, new single by Owel is worth checking out! ;)
