whaaa Standards, and specially Intersections, are great albums it's really wild how many people dislike or consider Intersections an inferior album - it's probably his most effective album it is obviously not as immediate as Proper but the songwriting and depth is impressive - it builds on American Football's(?) acrobatics but with a fuller, more energetic sound it's great to see 12 Towns listed as top-tier, tho
Don't you even begin to besmirch the good name of American Football by comparing it to that trash pile.

Man I'm just accepting that I feel way different about Waves than most. Spyki also holding it down for that record, props to you good sir!
I think the Gates similarities are really, really pronounced across both bands' albums, and I prefer their new album to the S/T. Think it's more varied and interesting, while also reaching more powerful peak moments. Also, Greg is definitely singing "better" and with more comfort and control on S/T than on the past releases, but I can see why people would prefer the energy of the older vocals. Funny, the Gates singer has also improved immensely since their first EP, but he uses more range on Parallel Lives than Greg on the S/T, and it makes the songs more compelling for me. Pneuma is my favorite MovMou release by a long shot, and I'm a much bigger fan of that than Gates' Bloom and EPs.
American Football is really good but I do think people put them on a higher pedestal than they belong
Too much has happened in this thread ;p I won't even try to convince anybody, but nothing in IIOI disco is as bad as some people have stated ;p also, "Eastern Leaves" is awesome, and I did tell that to Evan when I met him after his show - he said that he'd been talking to Greg about doing a music project together cause he loves his stuff, and that he could see it in the future. I'd be happy to hear it obviously :))
Surprised Zac doesn't like AF. I just started getting into them, and love them. Esp his love for Mineral.
I'm glad I'm known for my love of Mineral haha. I do like AF, a good deal actually. I just don't feel like they're so deserving of all the praise heaped on them. I think Mike's a great vocalist and the trumpet adds a lot, but I don't like mathy music all that much and I think that a lot of their music sounds pretty similar
AF's songs are so perfectly structured and as a musician I really appreciate every aspect of the 12 songs they've released.
