Ghosts is probably a top 10 song of the 2020s for me. Love the rest of the album, but that song is transcendent

All in all not my favorite from the album, but still such an amazing and special song, actually also my most-listened-to song of the year (by far, but I just love this whole album, and got some other favorites). Just checked my last fm and Ghosts is number one with 58 spins, and then Everyone Is Happy x42, then Never Rest by Great Grandpa x41

  3. A bit off topic but I'm revisiting Gates' discography and I'd do anything for a Moving Mountains / Gates tour if the latter decides to come back with an album out of nowhere as well...

Ghosts was my number 1 song too but just because I played it so much as the single and then again with the full album. Definitely not my favourite from the record but still fantastic.

i really wish i liked this more. the bookends are absolutely phenomenal but i enjoy - and not love - the rest. i keep seeing people list this as one of their AOTYs and i really want it to reach that level for me as the self titled is one of my favorite records of all time but this one hasn’t had the moment where it clicked yet

i will admit that as the dust has settled this is probably my """least""" favorite album of theirs. the leaps between pneuma / waves / moving mountains i think helps keep each of those albums pretty fresh and has me reaching for them more than this which is just kinda self titled again

but not by much lol, it still met their standard pretty strongly for me

I like it more than the self titled but nowhere near as much as Pneuma/Waves. I'm glad so many people seem to really love it though.

I think it’s their best. They’ve only gotten better with each album for me.

It’s not as good as self titled but definitely as good as if not better than waves.

Never been much of a pneuma guy if I’m being so fr rn (it’s good I just feel about it how people seem to feel about this)

  17. #10 on my list

To me it’s better than s/t but I feel like it’s a combo of everything the band has done filtered through s/t production

  19. Agreed on my end.

Yeah it’s their best. I still have the emotional attachment to s/t though

The best. And the fact that it topped their last for me still has me floored

  22. Self titled is very easily in the top spot for me still but this record is obviously amazing and is my aoty

a burst and I'm awake now Supporter

Probably third favourite for me behind Pneuma and S/T, but that’s a high bar to jump. For me the album falls away a bit after Everyone is Happy and then picks up again towards the end, and some of the songs don’t feel as fleshed out as they could be which is in keeping with something that was originally a solo project. Feels weird to be nitpicking what was my runaway favourite album of the year, but if anything it just makes me even more excited for what they might come out with next.

    Got a light?

Interesting, I find “All Here” through “Houses” to be the peak of the album so definitely doesn’t fall off there for me
