Was it you that mentioned once upon a time not thinking they were a great live band? If so I’m curious how you think they did tonight, if they improved, etc
i had only seen them once before, in 2017, and i didnt think they were very good. much better tonight. honestly they all seemed to be having a great time and i think that helped a lot. the first time i saw them greg sounded pretty rough, they ripped through like eight songs, said nothing, and left. the band sounded awesome. drummer killed it especially
I've watched a decent amount of Moving Mountains' live videos and in a lot of what I've watched, Greg seems kinda pitchy. Tonight I thought they killed it and Greg didn't seem pitchy to my ear but the level of my excitement could've been clouding my discerning ear lol
I noticed that the new versions of 8105 and Cover the Roots, Lower the Stems are both in lower keys which could help him sing those songs easier live.
Here's the setlist for all who want to know. I'm not sure if it will be the same every night but I assume so. 8105 Burn pile Ghosts Design Ideas The Cascade Seasonal Deathless Everyone is Happy, and Nothing is Good Cover the Roots, Lower the Stems Blue Wedding Clothes They played songs from all of their projects except for Foreward
Yeah, I thought the venue sounded great. I know @Leftandleaving didn't share my opinion but he's just a snob. Jk jk. It could've been where I was standing or maybe I just have no standards because all of the venues that size that I frequent sound like dogshit.
I want to shout out the chorus people that have made my trip and this concert so good. @Cody for being so generous and hosting me; @Leftandleaving, @Dinkleberg, and @Yourbiggestflan for chilling and chatting after the show; and @Yourbiggestflan for inviting me to chill at the arcade with his friends after the show. I had such a good trip thanks to y'all. I missed @bmir14 and @OotyPa but glad I got to see others. Also, I walked around Philly a lot during the day and it seems like a great place but maybe everywhere seems nice when you live in Wichita lol
I had an eye out! But didnt see you, would've loved to connect with ya'll. Glad you had a solid trip. I think a lot of the music clicked with my wife in a new way. Also, as someone mentioned, the drummer killed it. I have a new appreciation for how much the drumming takes center stage for some of the songs/moments.
My wife and I were in the back by the stairs where people kept bumping into us - show was hella crowded! So glad you enjoyed your time in the city. We love it here. The drums on Pneuma are like 75% of that record for me
Fellow guy by the stairs checking in. Felt like half of my job was to protect the guy with the professional film equipment from being knocked over while people tried to get by. Show was incredible, though. Hadn't seen them since 2011. Self titled is one of my favorite records, so to hear anything off of that was special. Deathless was the cherry on top for me.
Damn, props to everyone here for keeping this mostly spoiler free. Super glad to hear Deathless made the cut, 11 songs is pretty disappointing I gotta say but I can’t complain when not even a year ago I was convinced they’d never be a band ever again. Gonna try to go in blind to the setlist as much as possible but if anyone wants to hang in Boston shoot me a dm on here !
Apologies to the stair people because I was probably right in your line of site. Yellow beanie w AirPods (forgot earplugs at hotel) Show was great. After a long day of traveling and eating I wasn’t upset at the modest set length. Left me wanting more and enough time to get some pizza before everything closed.
I was right by the stairs with my two friends and the camera was nearly directly behind us. So wild how many chorus people were in such close proximity bit we never even knew! Despite being a part of this community (albeit a lurker for the most part) for years now, this was my first time meeting some of you in real life. Putting faces to names for @Friendjamin, @Dinkleberg, and @Leftandleaving blew my mind a bit. I love this community! Awesome stuff everyone. And way to show up for MovMou.
lol I was right behind you during the last hurry song and I was right in front you for the entire MovMou set
out of 50... well will never have that haha. I have their t-shirt still from when they said they were going to do super limited small run shirts and then only did 1. lol.
What were the approximate set times last night? Amazing to see Deathless got played. Finally got tickets for Somerville (Boston) on Saturday night! Venue capacity is 150. Can’t wait.
I'll be at the Somerville gig too! based on setlist.fm they started at 9:15 and played 11 songs so I'm assuming they played close to an hour.
