Like it but don’t love it like I hoped after reading through this thread. Still going to spend a lot of time with it.

Snow on Norris Street has grown on me heavy, such a powerful and brilliant song

  9. Same. The prices on Discogs have always been just been a tad to high for me to swing on it.

The lyrics to Houses… one of those lyrical pieces that seems written for the exact way I feel at the moment. Therapeutic.

This album sounds like coming into the light after going through the darkest season of your life. It's like a reassuring friend at just the right time.

Had a long early morning drive which gave me quality time with the album finally.

Not into ranking, but the album is indeed immensely enjoyable from start to finish. Stylistically really captures a lot of what they've been about over the years - energy of former years and the songwriting of the latter. With some new twists.

Hope they feel the love. This means a lot to many.

I tried listening to Pneuma and did not like it at all. Are Foreward and Waves more like that one or more like S/T and this?

i don’t listen to much outside the S/T onwards but i’ve always internalized Waves as Burn Pile + Seasonal with the vocals being closer to the style of Pneuma than S/T

Bummer. Not a fan of The Appleseed Cast, I take it? If you don’t like Pneuma then I don’t think you’d enjoy Foreword. It’s a logical extension of that post-rock/emo-indie sound but possibly even sparser. Waves is an outlier as there’s a strong post-hardcore influence they never really tapped into again.

I like the Appleseed cast but Pneuma just doesn’t do it for me. You can tell there’s potential there but it’s just not an album I want to listen to.

I can’t believe how good this is, even after 10+ listens, there are so many small moments and flourishes that I didn’t catch until many listens down the road. The songwriting here is astounding, and absolute class - the incorporation of more complex elements makes this a much more rewarding, and cathartic, listen than s/t, without losing the atmosphere that makes s/t such a classic.

perfect amalgamation of their career up until this point.

and this comeback reminds me most of There Will Be Fireworks’ Summer Moon, as some have already said. If anyone here HASNT listened to that band, you should

Which Appleseed Cast album is closest to Pneuma? I've always heard them recommended for that type of sound but I've never really been a fan of what I've heard from them.

I’ve been getting cut off of my listens before getting to Wedding Clothes, it feels like a bright ray of sunshine at the end of the journey. What a wonderful, beautiful closer

I only listened to them for the first time a week or two ago but dug them. Maybe I need more time with it, just a different vibe than what I like about this one. Vocals are offputting

After I was listening to this on Sat, 8105 came on and yeah. Fantastic stuff, and I’m glad that album exists. They’ll never be that band again and I’ve accepted that. The s/t actually took a long time to grow on me I think because I was expecting a continuation of Waves with a little more Pneuma thrown in. So essentially every release with the exception of Pneuma into Foreword has a completely different vibe.

Obviously though with Pruning of the Lower Limbs being like a more layered s/t influence. Like others said
