this is exceptional. definitely feels like a sequel to the s/t. everyone is happy is amazing, voices, houses, snow...great stuff
I can’t get over how well produced/mixed this album is. Every part is so crisp and clear and nothing feels like it’s stepping on anything else. Greg did a phenomenal job.
I don’t know if he’s just selective about his projects or if artists don’t go to him for a different reason, but I wish he had more production credits under his belt. The few non-MM things he has done sound incredible as well
First headphones listen, oh my god… Houses is so fucking massive hahah, really hope they play that one live
My partner made a Pruning of the Lower Limbs cake! She knew how much this meant to me and now we're treating it like a holiday lol. Happy MovMou day to all who observe!
I really wish I could sort out my favorites for this record by number, but I just can't. I know "Everyone is Happy" is #1 but it's so interchangeable with any and all of the rest of them. Goddamn, what a perfect record. What a legitimately perfect record.
A Bad Religion song and a very fast skate punk drum beat a bunch of early 90s bands were kinda known for (Lagwagon, Slick Shoes, that sorta thing).
I never knew I needed synth on a Moving Mountains song until now Given these songs were originally from a solo project I definitely didn’t expect them to be as up-tempo as they are, but I’m not mad. I still haven’t really wrapped my head around the fact that this actually exists and I’m listening to it, and it’s amazing.
I listened to this album 4x today. with good headphones at my desk, on a ferry ride into the city, while walking 3 miles across Boston, and on the train home tonight from a game at Fenway. All totally different vibes and it somehow fit all of them. this sounds like an expanded collection of everything I’ve ever liked from MM’s catalogue, which has been a bit sporadic. Lucky for me. I love this start to finish. Fantastic production. Deathless is one of my favorite songs ever, I discovered them late. Surreal to get a new album and it be this good….
Hope Greg's solo version comes out eventually when it would no longer distract from this release, would like to hear the differences. Given their creative and recording philosophy not sure it's at all likely. One of my favorite Greg produced albums is Ski by Caravela. If I recall it's an ex-MovMou member in fact. Nothing really like the warmth of a MovMou song and album. The audio equivalent for me of being where you belong.
haven't had a chance to spin this full thing yet but Cars is a banger, I really gotta go back through the discog speaking of which anyone got a decent rip of their Springsteen cover?
Did not know Greg did that Caravela record - that’s a great one and the way it sounds really makes it. I return to it every couple of years and always wonder why it took me so long
