I remember hearing an old co-worker tell another person at work that they needed to see the terrible Nicolas Cage movie “Next” because “It’s the sleeper hit of the year.”

He had to have just learned the word “sleeper” that day and was trying it out.

 

When I was a kid, I was at a restaurant and the table near us I overheard a group of adults talking about Die Hard with a Vengence (1995, John McTiernan director). They were trying to solve the 3 gallon/5 gallon jugs riddle. I don’t think they ended up solving it.

 

a couple days ago, i browsed a resale shop and checked out their movie section. a very old woman behind me was trying to sell her friend on the idea of watching The Notebook (2004) with her, especially since she'd have a copy of hand that Netflix wouldn't be likely to pull off the service

 

At a bar I found near me that not only has a pinball room, not only is music themed and has branded covers of Deloused and Enema and Keep It Like a Secret and several others on the wall, but people are talking about movies so now I can contribute to the thread!

Someone is talking about Best In Show but he can’t seem to remember Christopher Guest’s name or the full names of his other movies.
