The national being involved intrigues me but not enough to sit through that movie.

I went to Green Book in theaters with a gaggle of Midwestern white friends and on the way out, the most Christian of them all said "That's a perfect movie right there."

Oh yeah. What MGM did to that movie was a fucking crime. If you're going to punt the release month after month and then do zero promotion, at least send it to streaming.

I feel like I've seen quite a few ads for Cyrano. It just looks kind of bad. I had no idea the National was involved with it though.

They composed the score, wrote a song (“Somebody Desperate”) and might follow up the score with a second version:

Berninger says The National may end up releasing two albums tied to Cyrano, a cast recording and fleshed-out version of the soundtrack that the band would perform. “We’ve been talking a lot about that, but we’re trying to get the play to work first because the record would be a whole different kind of thing,” he said. “It would be fun if Aaron and Bryce would produce the cast recording, too. So, there might be two versions of it.”

I don't love the song, but I'm still more interested in the movie now.

I'd love this. The problem with assembling a traditional "soundtrack album" is the vocals are all recorded live on set AND the songs weave in and out of song and dialogue very fluidly. So in order to create a traditional soundtrack, there are some...very questionable edits. Haha

I've never seen Don't See a Word, but I definitely remember the DVD art from when I worked at Movie Trading Company around it's release.

I turned on Netflix for the first time in awhile and this was one of the first recommendations so I said sure why not. Huge famous cast and I’m a sucker for anything Wall Street / finance / office workers so I didn’t hate this and it certainly isn’t bad but definitely something I’ll forget about by morning and never heard of or saw before today. I’m almost positive I’ve never heard or seen the writer/director and since this was his directorial debut he may have vanished just like his movie has.

also oddly a film that doesn’t really have a villain and yet there are 5 or so characters that when you first meet them come across as the villain, very bizarre choices.

TW Spacey is a main character so this was not a fun watch with him in screen so much.

Has this world stopped asking what it's thinking?

How I know this movie exists is that I read a review for it at the time of its release that called it a “fedora fest” and I laughed my fucking ass off.
